'Swing DeVille' has a floating population that includes some of the finest Hot Club Jazz players in the South of England. These include Brian Powell Gtr, Richard Spong violin,Sam Arts Gtr,Brian Bull Gtr,Nils Solberg Gtr, Andy Maslin Double Bass,Steve Thompson Double Bass, Frank Taylor Gtr,Mike Piggott Violin. The band usually play as a Quartet,Trio or Duo made up from these musicians.
Influences
A comfortable reference point is the music of Django Reinhardt and Stephan Grapelli's 'Hot Club De Paris', but this is no tribute band. 'Swing DeVille' take the music of this genre and spin it around adding a hard rhythmic edge to timeless melodies.
Sounds Like
Happy Jazz with a Tune played by Wicked Musicians.
'Swing DeVille' play an exciting blend of Swinging Gypsy Jazz, the roots of which are in American Swing and the dancehalls of 1930's Paris. Their music is exuberant, instrumental and largely improvised around familiar songs from the era. Myspace Backgrounds
