‘Swing from Paris’ is a four-piece jazz ensemble, comprising violin, two guitars and double bass. Specialising in the French Swing of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli, they bring their own sound to jazz and swing classics (and a few numbers of their own), while evoking the sounds of the streets of Paris.
Formed by graduates from the University of Birmingham, their music is full of style, energy and an infectious swing rhythm. With years of professional performing experience, ‘Swing from Paris’ have played at a wide range of events throughout the country – from weddings, functions, corporate events, clubs, pubs, and markets to the Cheltenham Jazz Festival.
‘Swing from Paris’ features Fenner Curtis on violin, Andy Bowen on lead guitar, Bret Lewis on rhythm guitar and Paul Mahon on double bass.
"Swing from Paris played at Cowley Manor as part of the Cheltenham Jazz Festival. Their relaxed yet energetic music really lifted the bar and made the evening a very special one for our hotel guests and visitors. I doubt you could find a more talented acoustic quartet in the county – totally entertaining and fun!" – Bronwen Batey, Group Director of Sales & Marketing, 'Curious Hotels'
"'Swing from Paris' were asked to return to Birmingham's Frankfurt Market Bandstand in 2007, after performing some very classy gigs for the same Council-led event in 2006. They proved to be every bit as popular as the previous year, and I hope they'll be available to swing our Christmas Market in 2008! Easy to do business with, flexible in approach, very reasonable in price and most importantly, musically excellent." – Chris Porter, Birmingham City Centre Partnership
"It was a pleasure to have 'Swing from Paris' to provide live music at the launch of my charity appeal. Their stylish musical arrangements were the perfect complement to the elegant decor and ambiance of the Daffodil restaurant in Cheltenham, where we held the event. It was a really upbeat and enjoyable evening." – John Rawson, Mayor of Cheltenham 2007-8
"'Swing from Paris' were great at our wedding. We really enjoyed having them there and many of our guests said they wish we had booked them to play longer. They were a great link between the day and evening receptions, sounded great and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them in the future." – Matt Mosley
"The perfect entertainment for our company's birthday banquet…they played with great energy and gusto, the music was foot-tappingly lively…the audience enjoyed themselves as much as the band!" – Allison Joyce, GfK NOP
