Knoxville, TN's SWINGSHOT formed from the ashes of a cashed-out bowl in August of 2005.
Often called 'Percussive Metal' or 'Swing-Metal' by their fans, SWINGSHOT has perfected a heavy metal style that
incorporates both melody and aggression, combining influences from the genres of hardcore, metal, and rock, they often
dare to tread ground most metal bands fear, exploring the roots of influence even in pop, rap, blues and swing.
After previous years of playing music together, the members of SWINGSHOT decided it was time to take their love
for music to the next level, it was time to make their dreams reality. Adhering to a strict practice regimen and
focusing on professionalism on and off stage, their mission was clear. Coming out swinging,
they shot onto the Southern metal scene like a cracked-out hobo in Bum Fights 6, playing every rock club,
national guard armory, dive bar, skating rink, performance hall, battle-of-the-bands, and high school gymnasium in the
South-East area they could find.
Utilizing 4 out of 5 members on vocal duties, along with blood-curdling guitar riffage (Mike Collins), a variety of
slap-bass techniques (Loren Queener), additional custom percussion (Shane Reed), super-tight and thunderous
rock drumbeats (Matthew Bradley), and intensely emotional and philosophical lyrical content (BJ Griffith),
SWINGSHOT are sure to make a name for themselves with their self released full length debut cd
"There's Nothing Like A Beating" (July 2007), and continue to draw a fan base as diverse as the members themselves.
In 2005 SWINGSHOT got their first sponsorship and press exposure when 420Magazine.com http://www.myspace.com/420magazine
helped them put on a benefit show to raise awareness about the advocation of the legalization of cannabis for medical use in
the state of Tennessee.
In 2007, independent clothing company Kringe Clothing http://www.myspace.com/kringeclothing signed SWINGSHOT for
sponsorship and got the first official SWINGSHOT gear on the streets.
In summer of 2009 SWINGSHOT gained a major sponsorship with Jagermeister and were given the opportunity to play to a crowd
of 11,000+ on the Jagermeister Mobile Stage at The Rockstar Energy Drink MAYHEM FESTIVAL in Atlanta Georgia, performing
alongside National and International bands including Slayer, Marilyn Manson, Killswitch Engage, Bullet For My Valentine,
Cannibal Corpse, Job For A Cowboy, The Black Dahlia Murder, Behemoth, Trivium, God Forbid, All That Remains, and Whitechapel.
In mid-2009, SWINGSHOT was included on the 2009 J&T's Metal Mayhem Tour, hitting the road with regional acts including
Circles In Autumn, A Road Eternal, and Every Man's Enemy.
SWINGSHOT has also performed on independent dates with other National bands including Silent Civilian, Straight Line Stitch, Dead Gospel,
and 10 Years.
