Fatback This ensemble plays a variety of New Orleans influenced music; from the traditional street parade style of Dixieland, to the early music of Duke Ellington, to the Soul Jazz sound of the 60's and back again for some Louis Armstrong favorites. Fatback plays authentic, blues filled, New Orleans based JAZZ! This goup includes trombone, trumpet, bass, drums and a vocalist but can also include banjo and clarinet.
trumpet: Taylor Barnett

bass: Jimmy Sullivan, Curtis Fye
drums: Robby Sinclair
vocals: Josh Smalls
mingus a-monk-us This is my lastest project and, as the name suggests, the focus is on the music of Thelonius Monk and Charles Mingus, two of the most unique and celebrated figures in jazz history. This ensemble is a quintet, but can (ideally) expand by adding three more horns.
( ensemble members are uncertain at this time due to a lack of gigs. )
Jazz Quartet / Trio / Duo I've done many a gig with Thomas Wakefield playing standards in these line-ups. The trio (guitar, bass, horn) is fairly common in the restaurant curcuit. I'd have to say that I enjoy duets the most. I do have a demo of Thomas and myself playing duets at "Private Stock" (wine, beer, and cigars). It was there that we opened for Fidel Casto's personal cigar roller!

Since 2001, I've been raising two beautiful children. Now that they are past the infant stage, I've found (some) time to play more music. I'm looking forward to gigging and possibly recording more often.

Re: Word of the Week
WORD OF THE WEEK (6/3-6/10) IS "GRAVY"
adj.
1. A word used for "it's good, great or delicious."
2. Something that is without hassle or without a problem.
The word gravy is most often used with laid back undertones and usually is not used to describe something exciting or in an exclamatory way.
A college student might say: "Only one more exam to go, so the rest of this semester will be gravy."
Keepin'the words and tunes flowin'for ya. Thanks for commin' with me to my new page! - Jake Glasgow (Mister G)
A big thanks to all my friends... I just went over 10,000 listens on my player. I've added a fifth tune to my player, an arrangement of Scott Henderson's "Harpoon", the leader and guitar player of Tribal Tech.
A poem for your day:

Rest In All Love Is
------------------
I love you like this...
dark, i can barely see your eyes...
so dark my eyes are useless. My
heart opens wide its light on you
and your face brightens like the
static on a TV screen, or like the moment
we die and things begin to go all white
and
then
you're an angel laying before me...
the same one that has been there all along,
the one my eyes turned into something else and I
am ashamed I was deceived.
Then,
I see you, I see you like the energy that flows through my limbs,
now, like the breath that takes the universe and
gently creates another, now, like my feet walking
on glass, now, like I was never there.
I love you like I was never there. So gently, never there. In the dark
where I can barely see, and, rest in all that love is.
I look at you my Friend and I see a child at play
frolicking in muddy streams, splashing rivers into
oceans and carrying each molecule gently
to the sky for another round like a child handing water to his Father
for the first time.
You are neither boastful nor meek.
You are not shy nor are you seeking attention
There is simply abundance and grace with you my Friend
and you ask nothing of me...save I am my self...fully...always... and
you ask without asking...lead without
leading...cause...effortlessly.
Best bass trombonist in the world?? Wow, I appreciate your vote of confidence. Now tell me what you're smokin'--hahaha. For real, your opinion is respected and appreciated. I'd be happy just killin' it in my zip code!

Digging on your tunes here. Cool bone playing, and the big bands are fantastic. I'm moving to Va Beach in April. Looking forward to hearing you live soon.
