The New York Academy of Medicine is releasing a report the week of March 17th on so-called sandwich generation women and how social workers who specialize in aging can help with caregiving for older adults.

In order to secure TV coverage, human interest stories will be essential.

Do you know someone who is a sandwich generation woman who may be willing to talk to the press? Specifically we are looking for:

- A woman who is taking care of an aging parent (can be an in-law) either in the same city or remotely – AND who has stay-at-home kids.

- Who is living a major media market, ie, within the five boroughs of Manhattan, LA, DC, Chicago or SF. (preferred)

- Does not have to be working with a social worker currently.

- Does not have to be an expert in any way – just be willing to share their experience.

We know we are tapping into demographic that is already very busy. But they would be doing an enormous public service if they would be willing to speak to the media about their story, especially given that other women like them are more likely to be getting their news from local and national TV than any other source.

Please feel free to circulate this. We appreciate you working your personal and professional networks.

Sandwich gen women are highly encouraged to email or call our communications consultant:
Sai Pradhan, 212 – 584 – 5000, spradhan@fenton.com, Sai is also very happy to receive contact information (phone and email) that you forward.

Any leads you have are very much welcome! Thank you for giving thought to this.

Thank you! I am interested in Mental Health/Substance abuse programs. I will look into volunteering. Do you have any tips on places I could go?

I think any social service agency would be willing to have a volunteer/intern. I guess it would depend on if you wanted a paid experience.

I am just starting in school and I was wondering if anyone knows a good place to get some experience in social work without having a degree?
