"Swoon make music that takes your heart, dances with it then puts it back beating stronger than ever"*. A dynamic Contemporary Rockin’ Folk duo who write and perform a range of material from danceable high energy Rockin’ Folk, to tender ballads, humorous dittys and their brand of blues based acoustic rock. Josh plays an acoustic guitar with some effects and loops, sings backup vocals and plays the stomp box and foot tambourine. He provides the driving rhythms, wailing solos and catchy guitar accompaniment that Angela Smith (lead vocals and percussion) lays over her strong beautiful voice and master shaker playing. Influenced by their own Kindred, Love, Led Zeppelin and Jigzag, Swoon’s music is joyous, unpretentious and refreshing.
Starting up in July 2006 their magical songwriting partnership and passionate onstage delivery has seen them go from strength to strength. Playing support for Powderfinger & Silverchair on the Across the Great Divide Tour, Glen Shorrock (LRB), Deborah Conway, Andrew Morris, Dave Flower and well known Australian folk act Jigzag. The festival credits to their name are the Yungaburra (Far Nth QLD) 08, 09, Palm Creek (North QLD) 08, Wintermoon (The Whitsundays) 08, 09 and Springfest (The Whitsundays) 07, folk festivals.
In August 2008 Swoon recorded their debut album ‘Kindred’ at Dog & Bear Studios in Melbourne which is receiving airplay on Triple J and many community stations across oz. Their excellent live show has been delighting audiences up and down the East Coast with over 7 months on the road during 2009 and no plans to slow down.
They are currently touring, making friends, writing and loving every minute of their experience in this beautiful country.

Some kind words:
Palm Creek Folk Festival 2008 (North Queensland) was delighted to have Swoon (Josh Notting and Angela Smith) from Mackay perform on the Saturday night, a popular night for festival audiences to let their hair down. Josh and Ange captivated the crowd at once. Strong, vibrant vocals coupled with energetic, resonant guitar make this duo's sound amazingly powerful. A dynamic mix of upbeat and melodious songs underpinned their great performance. Bronwyn Todd
Program Director of Palm Creek Folk Festival

Just got an email from Michael and the review is in the July folk rag-he was too quick for me. But thats probably better anyway. Let me know if you pick up anymore gigs down here in August OK? It would be good to have some publicity in August while you are here. Jules
