Based in New York, Swoon conjures up a moody, melody-driven pop on their debut cd, Departures, which was produced by the legendary Godfrey Diamond. They are currently preparing to record their sophomore album.

"Swoon have a nice brooding pop sound... Singer Minnie Cho’s understated voice is, like the melodies, pleasing and delicate, but with an intriguing edge. And it provided a nice counterbalance to the grungy guitars... For me their vibe was tinged with an ’80s and ’90s edge... It was as if someone had morphed aspects of Nirvana to parts of The Bangles, and that band was now cheerfully wandering along the road of teen-angst with a pop-melodic beat (and we should throw a piece of Brit-pop in for good measure). Swoon held the attention of their crowd and they are definitely a band to check out." ~ Neil Diamond, Mr. Neil's Blog: "Swoon & Mike Borgia Downstairs @ The National Underground 03/27/09"

"On first hearing 'Departures,' out of habit I combed my brain for a reference point. Some came to mind: Aimee Mann, Beth Orton, Cat Power, 'I'll Be Your Mirror.' Most artists hate direct comparisons, of course, for obvious reasons. And while probing familiar themes of loneliness and love lost, Swoon's decidedly poppy approach is altogether their own. Layered harmonies, chiming guitars and a driving rhythm section are a lush backdrop for Cho's fragile delivery, at once pained and poised. A perfect soundtrack for a sad, stormy day or a long ride home." ~ Chris Collingwood, Fountains Of Wayne

THAT'S SO FUNNY cause we just found out Lily Allen's new album, out this week, was named "It's Not Me, It's You"!!!! So I thought it would be funny to name our second one after her first one for the same reason. We will probably get a bunch of hits from lost fans googling it though, so I guess thats the Silver(sun?) lining. And that she MUST have thought our album was genius ;)
what's up guys (& girls!) Just thought I'd throw this out there. We're playing at Sullivan Hall tomorrow night @ 8pm. It's 214 Sullivan St. If nothings cookin, you should come hang out! -Lou
