Influences
George Abdo, Goblin, John Berberian & The Middle Eastern Ensemble, U.F.O.,
Sixties Japanese Films, Gypsy Kings, Joy Division, Bauhaus, This Heat, anything and all Flamenco music, The Monochrome Set, LA Derby Dolls, ACDG, 70's television in general, Film Noir, Pho 87, Out of body travel, Astral Projection, Milla Jovovich, Sonia, Issam, oh for the love of Pete, too much to mention here!
Swords of Fatima began in the blink of an eye following a bellydancing DVD overdose by the legendaryBuko Pan Guerra(bass player of Lily and The Ladies and The Black Cat Mafia, banjo player from Shadow in the Nightshade and Les Confidentes). Buko is also known as the "Bad Ass Bitch with a Banjo" (coined by the amazing Sean Carnage). Buko also plays banjo inSun Trash!
Amazed by the astounding gyrations of the one and only Sonia and the incredible drumming of Issam Houshan, she began crafting the beginings of what would become the Flamenco Bollywood Disco Punk sound the band would cultivate into the madness it has become today.
Enlisting the help ofNickei Scott, the Bollywood name for Nicki from Popdefect / Project K / The Shards, the two gestated the band's sound for a month before turning it loose on the world. Currently writing and recording with the help of legendary Silver Lake Scenester hater Scott Taylor, the Twopergroup is about to launch into an all out assault on the known universe, and given their stripped down equipment and without the hindrances of pesky lead singers and bass players to get in the way... there's nothing in the world to stop them!
