Crazy Night Riddim - Veteran DJ Reunion
Finally the latest SWS strike, the Crazy Night Riddim, hits the streets!
The riddim features a sophisticated percussion section, a heavy bassline and the right melodic environment for Veteran DJs from a time when digital beats entered the jamaican dancehall.
Some of the most talented artists from this great era of jamaican music like Ninjaman, Junior Cat, Frankie Paul, Admiral Bailey, Burro Banton, Papa San, Stitchie, Tippa Irie, Bunny General, VolkanikMan and Don Sharicon and Flourgon contributed their awesome interpretations of the Crazy Night Riddim to a selection of 4 seven inch singles. The selection is rounded by the sweet voice of Mr. Glamarus, a tune by the English General Levy and a contribution of the German Shake A Dem crew.
SWS is a Berlin-based sound and label (Sound With Soul) combining a great bandwidth of (mostly) caribbean music in a creative and danceable way.
SWS is Sebastian and Dawee. Selector Sebastian is focused on playing early digital and modern Dancehall, Reggaeton and Soca and certain Rap. He is also the creator of the Sound With Soul productions. Selector and MC Dawee is the specialist for Foundation, Ska, Rocksteady and modern Roots in every aspect but likes as well to play tough bashment sets with the freshest pre-release dancehall stuff.
The sound was founded in 2003. It soundtracked various parties in different european cities like Hamburg (Germany), Tel Aviv (Israel), Dresden (Germany), Linz (Austria), Munich (Germany), Warsaw (Poland), Bern (Switzerland), Mannheim (Germany), Zurich (Switzerland), Wiesbaden (Germany) ... and of course Berlin (Germany)
SWS became well known in Germany in 2004 for it's Reggaeton Mixtape "Reggae Ritmo Latino" which was the first Reggaeton Mixtape in Germany. Since then SWS was invited to several Radio shows in German radio stations and online radios and startet its own online radio show "Bass Invaders" in 2005.
The sound is also known for it's quality mixtapes with remixes and specials.
In 2005, Selecta Dawee won the SoulForce mixtape competition with his "Get ready - Rocksteady" mix which was (like the "Reggae Ritmo Latino" tape) reviewed in the German reggae magazine "Riddim". This mix was the first part of the SWS Reggae History Mix series. The second mix called "Still Rockin Steady" followed in december 2006 and was another great success!
At the same time, Selecta Sebastian released the early digital dancehall tape "Still Hot Dis Year".
In 2006, SWS also became well known for its free downloadable pre-release Dancehall Mixes including "Gangsta 4 Life Mix 2k6", "Get Cross Mix 2k6" and "We Ah Area Leader Mix 2k6" by Selecta Dawee.
The highly praised "SWS Jiggy-Jiggy Mix" series was continued in 2007 with the release of the "From Dem Dis" Mix 2k7 .
Besides it's selecting and mixing SWS is also a producing label. In february 2006 the "Ritmo Latino" riddim was released on 12inch. It is the first German reggaeton riddim and features artists like Daddy Freddy, Tolga or the very talented local artist VolkanikMan.
In December 2006, our famous Crazy Night Riddim hit the streets! Check the SWS Shop and the influences section for more information about this musical journey into the early 90ies dancehall era .
But beside all hard work outside the club, most importantly SWS mash up every party they play at - mixing all styles and influences and creating their own sound – SOUND WITH SOUL!
