Sycamore Sighting started out as Fotress, a youth band playing at churches and youth camps with Jay Richards taking the lead vocal mic, Mike Brumbaugh guitars, Wade Rogers bass, and Jared Brumbaugh drums. Rogers decided to persue college so Caleb Brumbaugh (the third Brumbaugh in the band) was pulled in on bass. Along the way they picked up Glenn Hartzog as a second guitar player, whose background was in heavier music. This addition would be one that changed the band forever. Richards decided his life was taking him to Virginia so the vocal slot was open. Mark Mayotte had helped record the band in the past and Sycamore Sighting liked the work he did on the Rising project. Mayotte was brought on to hold the mic.
The bands sound started off as light rock in the style of Kutless, Jeremy Camp, and Tree 63. It over time has changed to what you hear now, a punch to the gutt filled with heavy, fast guitars, thumping, smart bass and solid, aggressive drums. Rounded out with Mayotte's strong forceful yet meaningful vocals, this band is going for the long run. The music is awesome, but the message about the reality of Jesus Christ is always the most important. Stay tuned for one rockin' bunch of guys.
