Syd Arthur are an exciting new band from the South East of the country, at the forefront of the young musical explorers whose unique sound has been making waves far beyond their native Canterbury. Their highly eclectic sound encompasses folk, world, psychedelic, jazz, prog and rock music, showcasing original song writing, inter-weaved with instrumental freak-outs.

“A melting pot of groove, soul, progressive rock, jazz and psychedelia – not to be missed!” – Furthur Productions

“Syd Arthur are one of the brightest talents in Kent. Taking their musical directions from the psychedelic leanings of Canterbury past, and throwing in some jazz style improvisation and a big slice of folk, groove and world, Syd Arthur have a unique sound that deserves a listen…” – Lounge On The Farm Festival

‘The four-piece live up to the evocative moniker, combining psychedelia, funk, folk and elements of the Canterbury sound… a glorious commotion.’ – Rock ‘n’ Reel Magazine

‘Syd Arthur fuse styles such as rock, jazz, folk and world music, creating an original sound that still ‘has its roots in all the right places.’ – Sounds New Festival

"Absolutely wonderful. I cannot recommend highly enough catching them live if you get the chance." - Folk and Roots Online   The Kittiwakes are Kate Denny on vocals and violin, Chris Harrison on accordion and Jill Cumberbatch on violin, mandolin, and guitar. Their debut album ‘Lofoten Calling’ is being released by Midwich Records, and is original music based around the people, landscape, folklore and history of the Lofoten Islands, - an area above the Arctic Circle in Norway. The music is song based, and influenced by traditional British Isles and Norwegian folk music. The band have supported established artists such as Faustus, Kathryn Williams and Tim Van Eyken and are fast developing a following in their own right.

Released on 30th November 2008, Songs from the Uglee Meadow features ten original songs inspired by nature and tales of myth and legend. Having already won acclaim from various quarters including Michael Tyack of Circulus and Marianne Segal, folk legend of the 1970's, and blending medieval, celtic, folk and contemporary influences, Songs from the Uglee Meadow should appeal to all lovers of the acoustic folk style.
"I am very impressed. Beautiful voice and really nice arrangements. I have strong connections with the folk world and this is one of the best things I have heard recently." Andy Hemsley, Journalist
The album "Songs from the Uglee Meadow" is inspired by a serene and beautiful place in East Sussex called the Uglee Meadow. With the involvement of musicians such as Will Summers from Circulus on crumhorns, recorders and other blowy things and Philip Martin (alias Drohne) on hurdy gurdy and pipes. Songs inspired by quiet woods, rushing streams, misty meadows, lonely moors and dancing fires imbued with an air of timelessness….
