My story is not one you haven't heard (if that sentence makes sense at all...)...I majored in music in college, became discouraged with the sheer meanness of the business, and decided I needed to save the world... So, naturally, I headed off to graduate school for a Masters Degree in International Studies only to find out that my heart is too big and bleeds far too much to be useful in this field that is also mean like music. I'm learning that the surrounding myself with people who are kind, grounded and passionate (and being one of those people myself) is the key to surviving on this planet.
I am lucky enough to be singing and playing all of the time (between singing with the Colorado Symphony Chorus, playing at every open stage that I can find and practicing constantly).
Here's what I can tell you...playing music is like breathing air! I only realized that I could sing when an injury caused me to lose all feeling (and nearly all of the use) in my right arm forcing me to give up the piano (which I have studied since age 3). I am now relearning what my three year hiatus let slip away and I'm so happy that my fingers are making music again. I have been blessed with the gift of music and it has seen me through every step, phase, difficulty, joy and accomplishment in my life. Now, having the courage to share it with all of you gives me great pleasure! Thank you for listening!
