Here's what a listener recently had to say about our song Ficus:
"Honestly, you guys could just recite the names of Negro League outfielders over and over and it'd be lovely." - Kellen Perry
David and Brandon formed Sylvan Lane in early 2000. At the time, David was living in Columbia, MO and Brandon in Springfield, MO. Both members attended high school together and had kept in close touch. They also shared a similar taste in music and party favors, which led to frequent visits. Jam sessions often ensued durring these visits. Since the duo had been focusing on rock for as long as they had been playing the guitar, they mostly concentrated on acoustic music when together, and eventually that became the format.
Due to distance, the two met twice monthly to work on material and record. Soon after they had formed, Brandon widened the gap by jumping the pond to Europe; at which point, the colaboration became yearly, with the guys preparing more material between visits. They even managed to get some studio time and record their first demo durring one of these visits. David played several shows as 50% of Sylvan Lane in the interim, and the interest that was generated further increased the inevitability of an eventual full time project.
In the fall of 2004, the members of Sylvan Lane reunited and now reside in the Kansas City, Mo area. Since this reunion they have been able to put together material that had been in the works for years. Derek Haff was kind enough to offer his time and, most importantly, his talents in the studio to help put together a few more tracks. David and Brandon are currently working on new material and hope to be booking shows in the region and beyond in the near furture. Their music has been featured on several talk radio programs as "bedding" music including most recently on KCUR 89.3 fm, Kansas City's regional NPR broadcast station.

Whoa! you added thumbs to the set? Now I am truly impressed. I think I should get some of those things to play drums. It may help with that whole holding the stick thing everyone is raving about. The way that I have been holding the stick is impressive but after a while it starts to sting a bit.
