Hed Kandi was the inspiration that got me involved with House Music back in 2002. Still to this day I had the best night of my life at Hed Kandi (El Divino) in 2006. To commemorate this and to show the love I have for the label I have a Hed Kandi Logo tatoo on my arm!

Above all as a DJ, Sy likes to please the crowd. However he does this without compromising the integrity of good quality House Music. Originally known for his upfront blend of Soulful House and US Garage, Sy’s House sets now increasingly resonate with the sound of Chicago. His groovy Electro sets are fast gaining him equal notoriety. He is a very diverse DJ and often likes to take you on a journey, moving seamlessly through the spectrum of House. For Sy DJing is not just about track selection or technical ability, it’s about crowd interaction and controlling people’s emotions escorting them to a higher place!
Sy Lyon started out DJing when he was 16 in local nightspots in his hometown of Barrow-in-Furness (South Lakes), but it wasn’t until he worked in Ibiza in 2002 that his love affair with House Music began!
After returning from Ibiza frustrated with the lack of opportunities in the South Lakes area, in 2004 Sy decided the only way to provide for himself and like minded people was to start holding events and so Who Built That House? was born! For more information check out Who Built That House? on DSI, MySpace, Facebook, RA or Skiddle. From then on events grew bigger and better, as did his reputation in the area. During this time there was not a major venue in the area that he didn’t play at!
In Jan 2006 after two years successfully pioneering the South Lakes club scene with WBTH?, Sy moved to Manchester to further his career. There he had a residency at Joy bar and played at the Cocoa Rooms and Bedlum, as well as returning to The Lakes for regular guest appearances and hosting one off WBTH? events.
In 2007 in need of a different challenge Sy relocated to Lancaster. With this change came two new residencies at local hotspots Mood and Cuba plus guest appearances for The Panther Project. In August he achieved a personal goal and got the opportunity to play in Ibiza for La Vita at Hush where he received great feedback.
“He smashed it! One of the best guests we’ve had all summer! It was a pleasure to have Sy play”. (Miss Divine, La Vita Ibiza / Defected)
2008 has been the best year to date for Sy. Who Built That House? has gone from strength to strength in Lancaster with a residency at The Lounge, Lancaster’s only after hours venue, as well as second year at Mood with exclusive events throughout the year. Sy has also hosted the front room at The Sugarhouse on several occasions alongside Pendulum and Shy FX, played at Evolution Sound System in Preston and Full Stop at The Canteen in Barrow. He also returned to the White Isle in August appearing again for La Vita. Over the last few years Sy has also had the opportunity to play alongside other top DJs in the industry such as Paul Wilkins, Jon Constantine, John Kelly and Krysko.
“Sy has got a great energy and presence when he plays”. (Paul Wilkins, Hed Kandi / Pukka Up)
Sy has even found time to study and graduated in 2008 from the University of Bolton / School of Sound Recording with a degree in Sound Engineering & Design.
In 2009 Sy has been spending a lot of time in the studio with live musicians, working on acoustic based projects, as well as learning to play the acoustic guitar himself. As a result in April Sy hosted ARKoustic at The Gregson Centre, a charity event in aid of Shelter for the homeless. Sy will also be continuing his Bank Holiday residency at Mood throughout the year, as well as making some special guest appearances around the North West…GET INVOLVED!

OUT NOW ON NITROUS RECORDS!
This, the first collaboration between Sy Lyon and Phil Caine (P.J.C Project) is a peak time Electro House stomper! With a driving bassline, tight drums and great hook it is doing some damage on the dancefloors, most notably that of Es Paradis where the track has been supported by the Pukka Up residents.
“TUNE!, I will be playing it every week!”
