Everything started by a late summers night in 2004 when drummer Antoine Baril and guitarist, vocalist Patrick Dawson, gave themselves the challenge of playing DEATH with the utmost precision and respect. The succes of their first challenge pushed them to complete the band. They then realised that creating a DEATH tribute Band worthy of recognition was possible.
They started by contacting Alexis Robitaille, longtime buddy and jam partner of Antoine, to fill the bass position. Michael Sweeney was then discovered by Antoine at a guitar shredding contest presented by Micheal Angelo Batio, thus, becoming the lead guitarist. The band was now complete.
The first six months of practice enabled the band to learn and perfect approximately twelve songs with the intention of presenting a one hour show. Unfortunatly, this lineup had to cease activities at the tail end of 2004. Due to personal reasons, Alexis and Patrick had to leave.
Despite these departures, Antoine and Michael had the firm intention of pursuing their goal because too much work had been put into the project to just fold the band. No shows were ever played by this lineup. Matthew Sweeney, Michael's brother, was then called upon to become the frontman. Daniel Perron became the bass player after Antoine and Dan met through the band MAG Project. Dan's talent was distinguished by the fact that he precisely found every bass note by ear and had a remarkable technique for playing on a fretless. Matthew, on the other hand, couldn't have arrived at a better time bringing with him a razor sharp picking style and a charisma on stage making him the right man for the job.
The new lineup was now complete and ready to play with a new found motivation and a massive energy level. The band settled on the name SYMBOLIC.
In October 2005, SYMBOLIC presented their first live show opening for MARTYR, a technical death metal band from Trois-Rivieres, Canada extremely respected in the underground metal scene. The overwhelming reaction caused by the 350 fans in attendance caused a stir in the Quebec Metal scene. This led to an association with Capital of Metal, thus, opening for important bands including GHOULUNATICS, UNEXPECT, KATAKLYSM and the widely respected DARK TRANQUILITY.
At the end of 2006, Daniel decided to leave the band in order to devote himself to personal projects. His departure resulted in the return of former bass player Alexis Robitaille. With his experience and talent, Alexis had everything in hand to fulfill the expectations of the band.
Now, Symbolic is in full force and is determined more than ever to play a fitting tribute to the incredible music of CHUCK SCHULDINER, pioneer and master of the Death Metal genre.

Tout a commencé par un soir d’été 2004 quand le batteur Antoine Baril et le guitariste chanteur Patrick Dawson, deux irréductibles fan de DEATH, se sont mis au défi de réussir à jouer du DEATH en étant le plus intégral possible. Le succès de leur premier défi les ont poussés à compléter la formation et réaliser que de créer un groupe hommage à DEATH était chose possible.
Ils ont donc fait appel au bassiste Alexis Robitaille, un ami et ‘bandmate’ de longue date d’Antoine et Michael Sweeney, un jeune prodige de la guitare qu’Antoine avait remarqué à un concours de rapidité de solo présenté par Micheal Angelo Batio. La formation était maintenant complétée.
Les premiers six mois de répétition ont permis au groupe de perfectionner une douzaine de pièces avec l’intention de présenter un spectacle d’une heure. Cependant, cette formation a du cesser à la fin de 2004. Pour diverses raisons personnelles, Alexis et Patrick ont du quitter le groupe.
Malgré tous ces événements, Antoine et Michael avaient la ferme intention de continuer le groupe car beaucoup trop d’efforts avaient été investi et aucun spectacle n’avait encore été présenté. C’est alors qu’ils ont décidé de faire appel à Matthew Sweeney, le frère de Michael, comme ‘frontman’ et au bassiste Daniel Perron. Antoine a rencontré Daniel au sein de la formation MAG Project alors qu’il se démarquait pour son oreille à toute épreuve et une agilité sans bornes sur sa basse ‘fretless’. Matthew est arrivé sur un plateau d’argent avec un solide coup de ‘picking’ et un charisme incomparable.
La nouvelle formation était maintenant complétée avec une énergie débordante et une motivation à toute épreuve. Le groupe portait désormais le nom de SYMBOLIC.
En Octobre 2005, SYMBOLIC présentaient leur premier spectacle en ouverture pour MARTYR, un groupe death métal technique de Trois-Rivières, Canada, extrêmement
respecté dans la scène Metal Underground. La réaction monstre suite à la première prestation de SYMBOLIC a amené une association avec Capitale du metal et plusieurs spectacles d’envergure avec des groupes tel que : GHOULUNATICS, UNEXPECT, KATAKLYSM et DARK TRANQUILITY.
Vers la fin de l’année 2006, Daniel à décidé de quitter le groupe pour se consacrer à ses projets personnels. Le départ de ce dernier a engendré le retour du bassiste original de la formation; Alexis Robitaille. Avec son expérience et son talent, Alexis avait tout en main pour remplir les exigences du poste de bassiste à combler.
Maintenant, SYMBOLIC est en plein forme et prêt à tout pour continuer à rendre hommage à CHUCK SCHULDINER et à la musique extraordinaire que ce maître et pionnier du Death Metal a composé.

Salut Les boys mon band de black Hak-ed damm ont fais un show le samedi 20 juin au Noctem à Charlesbourg à deux minute du terminus. Il a un petit changement de salle par rapport à l'affiche c'est maintenant La Grande Salle en haut...Vien faire ton tour si ça t'intéresse...
