Sympathetic Strings is slowly but surely taking shape as a full band. Chief 'String' Ric Blow has finally managed to nail down some like minded friends into forming a collective to perform and record his oddball folk-pop songs. ( Matt is also the bass player for Gypsy -punk folkies 'The Drookit Dogs' and Mary has recently moved on from Devendra Banhart faves 'Bat for Lashes'.)
The sound straddles the Anglo/Americana stratosphere, is predominantly acoustic based with a rich, textured sound akin to a male fronted version of The Be Good Tanyas, or possibly Lloyd Cole with fiddles. It is laid back, melodic and fun....Lyrical, memorable and hope-filled.
Expect lots of fingerstyle guitar, sweet harmonies, sea-worthy Double bass riffs and soaring violin melodies.
The Sympathetic Strings currently reside in the strangely cosy seaside resort of Brighton amongst a plethora of freaks, geeks, boy racers and eccentrics.
They will be gigging, writing and recording as much as they possibly can.
