Synaptic Graffiti is text, spoken word, music, animation, art, video and anything else we choose to incorporate. While we're NOT STRICTLY a band, for MySpace purposes, “BAND” is the closest definition available. Think of SGC as an "ART RIOT" in progress.
Synaptic Graffiti Collective includes poets, musicians, digital and visual artists, animators, you name it! Our emphasis is on collaboration between artists and across artforms. Our philosophy is simple, each member decides their own level of involvement, from the publishing of a single piece of text, to collaborating in more complex works of multimedia. If you contribute or have contributed in the past, then you're a member of SGC
This space contains some of the works featured on our debut CDROM, SLAM THE BODY POLITIK. We'll be adding work in the future from our current project, MEMORY - a Video Poetry Project . A Full description and submission guidelines are available NOW on the SGC blog here.
Subscribe to the blog if you wish to recieve notifications from us and links to our free downloads. Join the SGC Collaboration Group here at MySpace to share ideas and resources and/or take part in future performances. Entries are open for the QPF Filmmakers Challenge, 2009!
The Queensland Poetry Festival challenges Australian filmmakers, video artists and other multimedia practitioners to produce a short work (5 minutes max) which explores the possibilities of poetic expression via audio visual technology.
Poetry is defined broadly as memorable language. Your work might be a record of a poetry performance, a video text manipulation or something entirely different. We are looking for work that displays creativity, originality and an understanding of possibilities of language.
A prize of $500 is up for grabs and the winner will be announced at the 2008 Queensland Poetry Festival (21-23 August, 2009). A selection of entries will be screened at the Poetry on the Big Screen session at QPF 2009.
The deadline for entries is Friday 17 July 2009. Download the entry form in the Competitions section of www.queenslandpoetryfestival.com
