So many things: acting, film, theatre, music, dance, art, sculpting, aerobics, gym, fun, love, yoga, travel, SCUBA, I like to eat good food that's healthy and nutritious. I mean, I live in Austin and there's Whole Foods! I like good wine now and then, intelligent conversation, and having a fit body. My body is the greatest gift I have, and the most valuable thing I possess, along with my mind. What I put into each is what makes me who I am (well, apart from the genes...)
Here's a video I think everyone should watch: .. ..
Classical, piano, jazz, blues, salsa, soul, reggae, R&B, rock, gospel, experimental, modern...so much music! Music is the food of love, and nourishment for the mind, heart and soul. I have very eclectic tastes in music, as I do many things. When you understand a person's musical taste, you understand something of that person, and I sincerely believe that's why music is such a uniter of people and peoples. How can two men want to kill each other when they love the same music?
Imagine how WW1 could have been fought with Tito Puente's music blaring above the sounds of the mortars? It's been said that perhaps one of the greatest things that brought the Berlin wall down was the music of The Beatles, which was first listened to in the Soviet Union on bootlegged Beatles albums. John Lennon did more to unite the world than many people understand.
The idea of "musical prejudice" fascinates me, too. I've often noticed that my dislike of any particular genre has usually been rooted in prejudice. The way I figure it, if someone has a real passion for something, isn't it fascinating to find out why? I do have reservations around very nihilistic music, or meaningless, hateful, depressing or violent music, having said that. Noel Coward said we should "never underestimate the potency of cheap music" and that applies today more so than ever before. In my humble opinion, anyway. Some rap music makes my skin crawl. I don't think it leads anywhere. It's just ugly, and always will be so. But maybe it's a sign of the times. Give me soul music anyday.
Movies
There are so many movies I like: too many to list here. But I love many films, and there are some films of immense importance. Faves are Wings of Desire, Groundhog Day (so inspiring!); French films like Jean de Florette and Manon des Sources, Camille Claudel; any film that has many levels, such as the great "alternate universe" capers like Magnolia, Donnie Darko, Sliding Doors and Butterfly Effect. The Matrix, of course, for Sci Fi. The Godfather, Young Frankenstein, The Jerk, The Green Mile...the list is endless.
It fascinates me that each of us has a whole bunch of people inside us, and the complexity of character fascinates me both as an actor and an observer of life. The video at the bottom is a little comic thing I did that illustrates what I mean. It's a "Brady Bunch" of some of the "Mes" that inhabit the same brain and body. There's angry me, sad me, bitter and twisted evil me; there's sleepy, depressed me, happy, confident me, arrogant, cool me; there's me the glutton, crazy, manic me, and vacant, stunned me. There's a lot more mes, of course...
I disconnected the TV. Much of the time, it sucks one's brain out. As Noel Coward once said "Television is not for watching. It's for being on."
Having said that I was thrust before a TV at a very early age, and have had a love/hate relationship with it. But right now, the affair's off.

Books
So many books, so little time. I've read an awful lot of psychology, Now I'm going back to novels. Brought up on R.L. Stevenson, Dickens, Defoe, Steinbeck, Kerouac, Orwell, Koestler, Pinter, Fleming, Salinger, Albee, Lawrence, Burgess, Ballard, Weldon, Heller; the Sci Fi and fantasy writers like Vonnegut, Wells, Moorcock, Wyndham, Asimov. Read poets such as Neruda, Rilke, Lawrence, Eliot, and WW1 poets such as Rupert Brooke and Wilfred Owen (which made me a pacifist very early on); also spiritual literature - Taoist, Buddhist, Kabbalistic, Christian, etc.
Books are wonderful. Books change you. Books sweep you up and away, and change the way you see life. It amazes me that a single novel can change you, and I'm absolutely convinced each of us has a novel inside us. Last novels I've read have been "The Time Traveller's Wife" (Niffenegger) and "The Lovely Bones" (Sebold). I really enjoyed the novels of Alberto Moravia.
Heroes
Bugs Bunny, THIS GUY, MLK, Me, Anthony Hopkins, Churchill, Shakespeare, Lennon, Wilde, Sinatra, Coward, James Brown, Prince, Coltrane, Gene Kelly, Orwell, Robin Williams, Groucho and Harpo Marx, Chaplin, Keaton, Einstein, The Beatles, Monty Python, Bach, Rachmaninoff, Satie, Hendrix, Gagarin, Muhammed Ali, Picasso, Jung, Cary Grant, and anyone who lives their life with passion and conviction.

Thanks for sharing, Jack. I laughed out loud at the attorney commercial...ha ha...:) Listen, I have really enjoyed chatting with you here today. I hope you have a lovely evening. And hopefully, I will see you at one of our AW sessions soon. Have a tremendous evening and New Year, too!!
You already know you really want the Miata...From my perspective, who cares what people think...Here is what I think...Men that are strong enough to do what they want are truly macho, and sexy...We call those guys leaders...Its like seeing a large guy with a small dog....You just know he is confident enough to love his little fella, and then notice how much attention that guy gets from ladies...lol...Just my opinion. :) All the best, Deanie
