About me:
Author and speaker Sheryle Cruse has explored many styles of the creative craft. A graduate from Southwest Minnesota State University and a native of the state, she has written such published poetry as 1998's "Orange" from Bomb Threat Checklist, won awards for multimedia entries, such as a 1996 Honorable Mention for the Heritage Faith piece, "Folds" and 2000's Images of Faith exhibit, "Rainbow." She has also experimented with both plays and performance art, including 1994's "And You Dont Know the Half of It" and the 1997 Open Circle Church performance piece, "The Audition." Sheryle's passion has been toward encouraging and empowering both young girls and women to come to a personal relationship with Christ and live their lives free from the damage of their life experiences. This is most recently displayed in her Christian self-help book on eating disorders, "Thin Enough: My Spiritual Journey Through the Living Death of an Eating Disorder." Released by New Hope Publishers in February, 2006, it is Cruse's first book, a project over ten years in the making. It is a personal journey "from glory to glory" (2 Corinthians 3:18) for Sheryle, as well as a spiritual war cry to girls and women everywhere to rise in Christ, no matter what disorder, obstacle or argument tries to come against them. Sheryle Cruse currently lives in Dallas, Texas with her husband of twelve years and is working on a number of childrens' books and womens' devotionals. About the Book" "Thin Enough: My Spiritual Journey through the Living Death of an Eating Disorder:" Using her own personal experience, Sheryle Cruse, in this book, addresses eating disorders, food, weight and body issues impacting young girls and women. She focuses on the spiritual significance, while providing hope that, through faith and trust in God through Christ, young girls and women can, indeed, rise above the seemingly hopeless sentence of eating disorders and emerge as God's Daughters, full of life and promising futures. What others are saying/ Endorsements: "Renewing the mind with God's Truth not only keeps you on the path of recovery, but will keep you walking strong towards victory Sheryle Cruse does an excellent job in this book stepping you through the healing process." -Dr. Gregory L. Jantz, Ph.D. Certified Eating Disorder Professional, Founder and Director, The Center for Counseling and Health Resources, Inc. "Sheryle Cruse has written a wonderful book that takes a deep look inside the thinking of a sufferer of an eating disorder... She also reveals that recovery is dependent upon the availability of unconditional love. In Sheryle's case, that came from God and from Jesus Christ." - Don Nielson Treasurer and Co-Founder, National Eating Disorders Association "Sheryle Cruse knows of what she speaks. She has written a way of escape from the dark abyss of eating disorders into the shelter of the Most High... It is a brave raw book for every daughter, mother or sister who has encountered this shadowy existence." - Pastor Lisa Bevere, Messenger International Ministries, Author of "Kissed the Girls and Made them Cry" and "Be Angry But Don't Blow It"
Who I'd like to meet:
I'd like to meet and network with those individuals, be it experts, doctors, therapists, all trained professionals in general, who work and study in the field of eating disorder treatment and recovery, as well as other Christian ministries and publishers regarding the spiritual factors relating to the eating disorder issue. In addition to this, I'd like to touch base with other individuals who are afflicted with all manner of eating disorders, food, weight or body issues.
