Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)
"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff

Malarchy play a devious brew of trans-European travelling sounds, stirring spirits and guiding lovers onto higher plains. Enthusiastic European roots rhythms from this quintet, destined to lift the weariest souls and have us all dance-floor bound before we know it. Centuries of tradition collide with contemporary styles throughout the songs.
Malarchy are the history of rhythm and harmony, topped off with measures of jazz and moonlight. This style of music seems to have an appeal as near to universal as anything heard - the raw emotional impact seems to transcend cultural and national boundaries.

Still open for bands!!! One of Wales’ biggest and newest events, encompassing 2 days, 4 stages, 60 bands, and the capacity for 3000 people! The festival is for charity, with proceeds going partly to help projects in the local community and partly to help young musicians in the area, with advertising, their equipment, etc. The ethos is very much that it is run like a community, so people helping each other out rather to help cut down the exchange of cash. We aim to work with ethical companies, aim to actively promote both welsh music, and environmental issues and solutions. Check it out at www. thesquarefestival. com And get in touch for further details. admin@backbeating.co.uk or thesquarefestival@gmail.com
Sounds good, I'll try to make it over at some point, mind you I'd need some sort of floating device to get there at the moment. How many uke players you got going on over there? I'm off to build an ark!
