Tainted Grace is a female fronted melodic metal band hailing from South East England.
Formed in 2007, the band has recently been compared to Evanescence and Lacuna Coil.
Their strength lies undeniably in their song writing; intelligent, metal infused rock overlaid with haunting vocals and catchy melodies that will certainly get stuck in your head.
They have just welcomed second guitarist Andy Simpson which has transformed the band adding a more dynamic metal sound.
Bands they have played with include Senser, Season’s End, ShadowKeep, To-Mera, Hanging Doll and Soul Destruction. Venues they have played at include The Asylum (Birmingham), The Bridgehouse II (London) and The Agincourt (Camberley).
In September 2008 they made a huge impact with femme-metal fans from all over Eurpoe when they opened the Dames of Darkness festival in Birmingham. In 2009 they will perform at their first outdoor festival: Weyfest.

Was sorry to see you had to pull out of DODF, was really looking forward to finally meeting you all. Hope all the illnesses and ailments are clearing up and that everyone is back to full strength. And sorry to hear about Surfaced Unsigned too. Yeah they have a habit of putting the gigs on midweek... i think it's because the places they are trying to hold these rounds are quite pricey on a Saturday night.
Joke is right. They told me (Live & Unsigned), the next round they wanted the bands to play a few covers! I was like, what is the point of that? They reckon it was to demonstrate musical ability & diversity. In my book it was just to see if the bands or artists could do anything they were told or be 'moulded'! We came away from the whole experience disgusted with the whole approach by Live & Unsigned... just another cynical ploy to find a cash cow to milk with no emphasis or even pretence of nurturing real talent. I feel sorry for people that actually got through, as some of these organisations are just re-enforcing everything that is wrong with the current music business.
I am a musicians union member & am going to become a Health & Safety rep for them. I wish I could be a Musicians Policeman & catch all the rogues, including the dodgy promoters, crooked managers & exploitative record companies! Why am I still involved? I Love making music & performing and 'making things happen'. I am sure that is what most bands are in it for too. I hate seeing bands ripped of and shat on!
With regard to Surface Unsigned, I agree the timing sucked. We find it difficult to mobilise fans at the weekends, never mind weekdays! It is also not easy to get in London for that time of the evening, if you live a fair stretch outside.
Poor behaviour towards musicians is less prevelant in Europe, especially Germany, where we have been treated fairly, and with the utmost respect. We love touring over there... the fans know whats good & what's not & the promopters are far more professional.
Sorry to see the result of Round 2 of Surface Unsigned.
Judging from the result of the round where my band Snake Eyes got the lowest score on the night & yet all the bands said how great we were, I am very dissolusioned with the whole competition thing. I have been to a few of these things & the outcome always seems pre-determined. We were finalists in the Kerrang Unsigned Live comp & knew who was going to win even before we played due to attitude of some of the people towards to the band that eventually and unsurprisingly won. We actually went to some other thing in Aldershot & were not even allowed to play a complete song.. I asked repeatedly if it was a waste of time for a Metal Band applying, but they kept saying, no, thats OK. If I seem to remember right, they even taped the gain controls on the amps down do you could not hear the guitar above the racket from the unamplified drum kit. I am sure some judges would not recognise a decent band even if they were already playing gigs at Wembly!
I am getting cynical in my old age, but it is just about how much money people can screw out of a band.. Us older guys don't take prisoners, so we don't stand a chance 'cause we won't play their silly games.
It is time for a new business model for the music industry, one where the musicians benefit more directly from their work without so many middle men knicking all the money. I am sure you will do perfectly well without Surface Unsigned.
I know of other bands that are really good that also did not get past round 2 & yet some of the other bands that did get through were really poor or not even in the right Genre for the round.
