Almost 13 years ago our dad was arrested for committing robbery while under the influence of meth. He was sentenced to prison for 35 years. We were only one, two, three and four years old then. When our Dad realized he was having a problem, he asked for help, but was not taken seriously and soon after that is when he got into trouble.
Even though we visit him in prison, we have missed out on a lot of special times with him. Birthdays, holidays, births, weddings, deaths and school achievements are just some of the times he can’t be with us. Over the years, we’ve met lots of Dad’s friends on the inside who also got into trouble because of their struggles with meth. These guys and their families have become part of our own family.
There are over ½ million men & women currently incarcerated for drug-related crimes in the U.S. whose punishment affects not only them, but also their families. Too many lives and families are being ruined by the struggles caused by addiction to meth and other drugs. We want to get the word out that us kids will NOT let meth destroy more families! With the help of our parents, our family has come up with a few t-shirt designs that we’d like kids (and adults) to wear to help support our mission.
