Take 21 was the four-piece act next to grace the Zoo with its presence, dripping with sex. Apparently androgyny is back. They had a solid sound that to encapsulate in a genre would border on insulting. Besides, genres these days are too confusing. Danceable numbers worked wonders on those last remaining people who were standing still, and to finish off the job, a good round of “da-da-das”-always a surefire solution. Bands like Take 21 are what have helped cement the Zoo’s reputation as one of Brisbane’s top live venues.

Take 21 members, Chris Bancroft (Guitar/ Vocals), Michael Holmes (Vocals/ Guitar), Andrew Sax (drums) and Jordan Bergman (Bass/Vocals). Formed when they were 15 years old, Take 21 have just finished high school and their influences are drawn from the Punk Pop genre.
Take 21 have recently finished recording at Blackbox Studios, with Jeff Lovejoy (Powderfinger, Regurgitator and Resin Dogs), the single was mixed by double A.R.I.A. award winning producer, Magoo. The E.P. was mastered at Sterling Studios in Los Angeles, by Justin Shturtz (Fall Out Boy & M.C.R)
Chosen as support for Fall Out Boy in March 2007 at the Brisbane Convention Centre, Take 21 made a comfortable step to this level of show and gained a new legion of fans – a big legion of fans. This was endorsed with the announcement of the support for The Used nationally on their sold out Australian promo tour in May 2007.
Take 21 assisted with the launch of INSPIRE magazine for the Centre Against Sexual Violence of Young Women and National Youth Week 2007, both on the Gold Coast.
The band have appeared and performed on the syndicated national radio show, “The Local”. After one week of posting their song “Nothing is Real” on JJJ Unearthed – it debuted as the 2 nationally on the most requested.
Take 21 were chosen to play Soundwave Festival in Brisbane and Sydney and the only non touring band to be included on the compilation album. The band has also supported Motion City Soundtrack and SugarCult. The debut EP was released on April 2008.
We would like to thank everyone who has supported us over the past 3 years - It was an awesome experience and could not be traded for anything.
