Taking Pictures fits into the "wall of sound" music catagory. We are a melodic (though not sugary) and rhythmically dense band (but it's in 4/4, don't be lazy, we are not a math rock band. . . ) that favors tight song structures as well as more free/improvisational pieces. Our music is, for the most part, a collective effort of the involved artists and writing and practice are a source of great joy for us.
the final taking pictures album has been mastered. it sounds great. A small vinyl pressing is forthcoming with some handmade sleeves as well as a download.
Hello friends, we would like to introduce you our new song with a small video preview, please take a look into our myspace and check it out. Your comment will be greatly appreciate!!
jeez, it just occurred to me now, like 2 years later, to mention i totally peeped you Matt at the pitchfork festival like yeah, 2 years ago, playing with slint! it made my fucking night. i have no idea why i'd be at a pitchfork event, except yeah, it was slint!! and it was wonderfully you too and that made me very happy.
You guys are absolutely the best band in the world. I now get the ironic juxtaposition of ya'll having the worst band name in the world with the best musical body of work in the world. You guys are the Steve James of white people that play instruments that have bad band names...that just happen to be the best band in the world. Shouldn't you guys like reform or something since everyone's into expensive shitty haircuts or something? You guys can like profit off of everyone realizing where their expensive shitty haircuts come from.
It depresses me that I have more friends than ya'll for being a trite, loud asshole than ya'll have for being maybe the best band in the world. But I'm in a band that's pretty good too(seriously, we're good as fuck--you just have to believe that shit). Maybe we could like cosmically join our energies by ya'll like getting real pissed off about "The Frank Caliendo Show". Energy is eternal.
Sorry for the hyperbolic bullshit--but whatever: Hurl is maybe my favorite band of all time and I was kinda butt-hurt that the band had to bow out. I was slow to warm up to Taking Pictures because I think it's a terrible band-name, and I missed the fourth member...but I really think that "Where You Learned The Blues" is the best song I've heard in years and I wish I could see you guys here in Atlanta. I'm not sayin' nuthin'--but I totally think you guys are gonna triumph.
The news about final record is a good surprise, but it makes me happy/sad at the same time.....anyway I'll try my best to make the record heard.
We're going to be back again in Chicago next February. Really really looking forward to seeing you guys all. And I hope the vinyl will have done when we are there...
damn right... glad as hell you guys're getting this thing out-- lemme know when the vinyl hits the shelves-- i'll take 2! i was starting to worry about how much longer my cdr of the rough mixes'd last...
at last you did it ,you diiiid it. the new material sounds great, the second one is simply amazing.. and now the hardest for me ...find it.. best for you david
