I'm a 25-year-old college student working toward BAs in archaeology and ancient history, followed by a PhD in Egyptology. Only another 7-9 years!
To finance my studies, I work at OmniUpdate, a company that provides colleges and universities with an easy way of updating their websites. My job and coworkers are great, and it's a terrific place at which to flex my coding muscles and gain some useful skills should the salary of a future job in archaeology not quite cut it (note: it won't).
While I'm quite confident that I'll end up in Boston eventually, for now, I live in southern California in a valley nestled between LA and Santa Barbara. Nice place to be -- good people and even better weather. I miss the East Coast (where I grew up) with everything I have in me, but it's hard to complain too loudly when you live right near one of the most gorgeous beaches in the country.
In three short weeks, I'll be moving to San Diego to begin classes at UCSD, so if you're from that area and would like to get together for a coffee or a hike, just let me know!
