About me:
A knock on the door of his family home in South Philadelphia, a music teacher asking if anyone wanted music lessons – that’s how it started. T. Albert’s choices were guitar, saxophone, and accordion. After hearing bands in homes in his neighborhood, he knew the guitar was the instrument he wanted to play. At the age of 8, he began music lessons.
After sneaking out of the house at age 13, T. Albert went to see Jimi Hendrix perform at the Electric Factory in Philly. It changed his life seeing what could be done with a guitar. He saw, even then, how a guitar can touch people. That lesson was honed as he became more experienced while playing with a variety of band from age 13 on.
Whether listening to or performing a Jimi Hendrix tune, T. Albert watched and learned. Throughout his career, performing in everything from trios to 20 piece horn orchestras, T. Albert sponged up the dynamics.
After decades of performing “I learned something from every great artist I’ve heard or seen, trying to emulate and stylistically add dimensions to my playing”.
He also began to write music, performing his first original songs with the Hightimes Band, a power funk trio. His composing abilities came from ideas that moved him, often writing the music first with a feel that came from the idea, later refining the lyrics. He writes of injustice, heartbreak, joy and triumph – all accompanied by melodic riffs and complex rhythm patterns – a little rock, a little funk, a little blues and a little jazz.
He draws out each performance as he rocks them blues. He doesn’t stop there. Known for his pure tone, the melodies and solos touch people.
