This year, the CAPITAL FRINGE FESTIVAL is launching the Fringe Festival Button, deeply rooted in the North American Fringe tradition. Essentially, the Button is a required pass to the entire Festival. It is different from a ticket. Each patron is required to be a Button-holder, and the Button must be presented at each venue in order to gain admittance into all Festival productions. Purchase Fringe Buttons at the venue or the Fringe Box Office at the cost of $5 each.
NOT JUST A BUTTON
The Button gives Fringe Button Holders access to a wide variety of offers from Neighborhood Partners such as food and drink specials and retail discounts. If Button Holders take advantage of these opportunities–-even just once--they recoup the cost of the Button several times over.

"Coyne and Kacser give superlative and heartfelt acting performances."
"[T]his production works on every level. Tales of Doomed Love is one of the finest entries in the 2008 Capital Fringe Festival." "... especially satisfying due to Stolowitz’s keen ear for teen dialogue and her wit in adapting the story to a contemporary setting." --Steven McKnight, DC TheatreScene.com http://dctheatrescene.com/2008/07/26/tales-of-doomed-love/
TDL LOVEs Steven McKnight & his FIVE Bandaccino points (out of 5)!
"Best moments:
Hilary Kacser's blithely girlish turns as Juliet, and her backtracking explanation (as Lisé) of dismembering herself ("I should clarify…").
"[B]oth Hilary (Kacser) and David (Coyne) ... delivered heartfelt, professional performances and have clearly worked to develop a superior chemistry with one another."

Come to the Studio Theatre Stage 4 for six performances July 18 – July 27 as Washington, D.C., Actor-Manager Hilary Kacser and Director Jessica Lefkow, creators of past Capital Fringe Festival sold-out shows, bring to life playwright Andrea Stolowitz' world premiere play, "TALES OF DOOMED LOVE (or is it ever worth it?)" at the 3rd Annual Capital Fringe Festival. Funny, biting, and heart wrenching, five reinvented classic stories turn love on its head in an intimate and emotional evening of theatrical storytelling.
Stolowitz travels to Washington, D.C., from Oregon for her play's CapFringe world premiere. "The best original script we saw in this region last year," The Triangle Independent called "Tales of Doomed Love" in development, citing "riveting if not prescient" connections to present-day geopolitics. Stolowitz's plays have been developed and presented at such venues as The Old Globe and The Long Wharf. Lefkow's "Margherita" sold out at CapFringe 2007, and she directs new play "Honey Brown Eyes" this autumn for Theater J.
Dramatizing 2007 Nobel Laureate Doris Lessing's memoir, Kacser's "In Pursuit of the English: Rose" sold out at CapFringe 2006. DC Theatre Scene says, "Lessing imbued Rose with real and sympathetic characteristics, and Kacser captures every one of them. Kacser's extraordinarily detailed characterization…is minutely observed and displayed to us with exquisite specificity." Since then Kacser has performed in acclaimed productions of "Dark Rapture" at Spooky Action and "Good Woman of Setzuan" and "The Oresteia" with Constellation. A graduate of Brown University, Kacser studied acting at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) and has performed widely in D.C., south Florida, and London.
His internet acting known to a cult following and picked up by Turner Broadcasting (www.DCLugi.tv), Dave Coyne completes the cast.
Box Office Phone is: 866-811-4111. Studio Theatre Stage 4 is wheelchair accessible and air-conditioned. For more information: www.CapFringe.org and www.StudioTheatre.org.
ARTIST AND PRODUCTION BIOS HILARY KACSER acts and produces plays in Washington, DC, where she grew up. Fringe gives her control of her work not afforded when she acts with other local companies and in addition utilizes her design, direction, production, and writing talents. This project exercises her acting versatility in three very distinct roles. Kacser produced and performed "LOVE & WAR: the Bard's Women," at CapFringe 2007, which also was picked up for subsequent productions. Kacser has since performed in acclaimed productions of "Dark Rapture" at Spooky Action , "OK" with INKwell, and "Good Woman of Setzuan" and "The Oresteia" with Constellation. A graduate of Brown University, Kacser studied acting at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) and has performed widely in D.C., south Florida, and London. JESSICA LEFKOW nurtures relationships with playwrights and develops and directs new scripts. These include this project and Honey Brown Eyes at Theater J in the autumn. Another DC Native, she has directed all over the world. ANDREA STOLOWITZ has published and had her plays produced at such venues as The Old Globe and The Long Wharf. She travels to DC for this world premiere of her play from Oregon where she currently teaches playwriting at the University of Portland and Willamette University. DAVE COYNE, YouTube star, completes the cast. His original internet acting (www.DCLugi.tv) won him a contract with Turner Broadcasting on their breakthrough new platform Web Site SuperDeluxe.com for broadband. DAVID WEAVER (sound design), yet another area native, won an audio Emmy for the National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade. WILLIAM MICHAEL WOODARD (set) is a stone artisan who lathe turns vessels in alabaster and coordinated set construction for Jim Varney's Ernest P. Worrell movies. WILLIAM L. RITCHIE, Jr., is a local philanthropist and supporter of the arts. In addition to making this production possible through a generous grant sponsored by Spooky Action Theater, he supports the Washington Revels, Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic of Metropolitan Washington, and The Acting Loft.
