HeroesQUOTORAMA:
A glass can only spill what it contains
"What would you like to be when you grow up, little girl?" "Alive."
"Apples, feh!" the crone said. "Apples are nothing. A blind badger could enchant an apple. Like puppies and pomegranates, they're so eager to please. Now, kumquats--kumquats are something. Takes a lot of willpower to get a spell to take on a kumquat. I don't sneeze at any witch that can make a kumquat do her bidding. - Ursula Vernon
Sean and Brigitte can do it! - Star Odyssey
Y maent yr mynyddoedd yn canu, ac y mae’r arglwyddes yn dod. The mountains are singing, and the lady comes
So here's what I learned. First of all, the fortune cookies lie. They are cheating bastards, those fortune cookies, dirty little motherfuckers that tempt you into believing them with their crispy baked exterior. Fuck those cookies, and the egg foo yong that they rode in on.
I understand how scissors can beat paper, and I get how a rock can beat scissors, but there's no fucking way paper can beat rock. Is paper supposed to magically wrap around rock and leave it immobile? Why the hell can't paper do this to scissors? Screw scissors, why can't paper do this to people? Why aren't sheets of college ruled notebook paper constantly suffocating students as they take notes in class? I'll tell you why, because paper can't beat anybody. A rock would tear that shit up in two seconds. When I play rock paper scissors, I always choose rock. Then when somebody claims to have beaten me with their paper I can punch them in the face with my already clenched face and say, oh shit, I'm sorry, I thought paper would protect you, you asshole.
Great, she's full of crickets
We do not, or need not, despair of drawing because all lines must be either curved or straight, nor of painting because there are only three "primary" colors. We may indeed be older now, in so far as we are heirs in enjoyment or in practice of many generations of ancestors in the arts. In this inheritance of wealth there may be a danger of boredom or of anxiety to be original, and that may lead to a distaste for fine drawing, delicate pattern, and "pretty" colors, or else to mere manipulation and over-elaboration of old material, clever and heartless. But the true road of escape from such weariness is not to be found in the wilfully awkward, clumsy, or misshapen, not in making all things dark or unremittingly violent; nor in the mixing of colors on through subtlety to drabness, and the fantastical complication of shapes to the point of silliness and on towards delirium. Before we reach such states we need recovery. We should look at green again, and be startled anew (but not blinded by) by blue and yellow and red. We should meet the centaur and the dragon, and then perhaps suddenly behold, like the ancient shepherds, sheep, and dogs, and horses — and wolves. This recovery fairy-stories help us to make. In that sense only a taste for them may make us, or keep us, childish.

ack, it's treating us well and meanly...jobs are even harder to come by around here than in chicago. so, we're broke. I'm working part-time at a sports facility (the worst place possible for a Ruth to be)...it's the best i could do. there really is nothing here. other than that, it's the rainy season, and i miss the snow. honestly, caleb loves it here, and i just kind of want to go back north. i want someplace to feel like home again. anyway, sorry to hear about your sucky department. I hope you end out exactly where you want to be in that regards, and really in all regards. nice to hear from you.
