Well what can I say but "all good things must come to an end!"
Yep that's right the 'Third Age Of Filth' is drawing to a close and what better way to end it than with an old favourite of ours the one and only Jerome Hill
Supporting him in this specially extended Filth (9pm to 5am!) is a veritable feast of musical talent presenting a smorgasbord of ass shaking vibes for your aural delight
But fear not I say unto thee, for all is not lost - there will be a 'Fourth Age'...
During the autumn of 1997 a group of musicians, DJs and promoters got together in the East midlands and formed a collective known as Dagobah System. Dagobah System was a techno sound system that specialised in acid and dancefloor techno. At that point in time there were not many techno nights in the area and so we were one of a few quality nights out.
"to save you lots of time and money I recommend you put Dagobah at the top of your list coz you aint gonna get much better in Nottingham". - Pulse magazine
Dagobah nights ran in various clubs such as The Marcus Garvey Centre, The Skyy Club and Dubble Bubble to name a few. Our Dj’s and live acts were cutting their teeth back then entertaining crowds between 100 to 1000 techno lovers. Since that time our DJ’s have played at clubs and parties in Holland, Spain, France, Germany, Czech and Hungry. Dagobah disbanded in 1999 as some of its members moved cities and took a well-deserved break.
The First Age of Filth
By 2000 Small Paul had decided that Nottingham needed some techno again and together with Russ and Dave we were back in full force under a new moniker - PURE FILTH. Utilising the top room of ‘The Old Angel’ an old alternative pub. Making it, our home and continuing to put on some of the best underground names and acts in the country.
Over the years we have been graced by the presence of some of the best in the industry:
D.A.V.E the Drummer (Hydraulix, Smitten)
The Liberators - Chris, Aaron & Julian (Stay Up Forever Records, Smitten, Routemaster)
Rowland the Bastard (Bionic Orange, Infected)
Neil Landstrumm (Sandinavia, Tresor, Peacefrog)
Michael Forshaw (Chan 'n' Mikes, Semi-Automatic, Crime)
Mark Hawkins (Djax, Automatic, Jackstar, Horspiel Musik, Ugly Funk)
DJ Urban (Pro-Jex, Kne' Deep, Jackstar)
DJ Bam Bam (Under Construction, Jackstar, Djax Up-Beats)
Daniel Benavente (Neue Heimat)
Paul Langley (Knee Deep, Jackstar, Predicaments) Esther Ofei a.k.a Databomber (Sheer, Uglyfunk)
Syber Simon (Hydraulix)
Jerome Hill (don’t)
Uberdog (Atomic Jam, Ugly Funk)
Desertstorm
Samovar
BWPT
Ugly Funk Records
to name but a few and not forgetting the resident dj’s who continued to woo the crowds...
The Second Age of Filth
With the departure of Small Paul to Brighton it looked like the end for Pure Filth, but it was not to be, up stepped one time regular punter, but now full time Filthy Convert - Dom. For the next chapter we relocated to the newly refurbished BluePrint Club on Alfreton Road. Things certainly stepped up a gear the club soon had three rooms to fill and Dom and Dave decided to build a sound system that could do the place justice. The quality didn’t suffer and we continued to have an array of top UK and International techno DJs and live acts on.
The Third Age of Filth
With Dom taking a well earned sabbatical after the Dagobah 10th Birthday, Dave decided that Filth simply couldn’t die and has taken up the reins, promising to continue to provide Nottingham with quality techno music, a viable and reasonably priced alternative to the commercial clubbing scene and above all a bloody avvinit party. See you there!
Astrix returns to the UK for his most ambitious tour yet. On Fri 30 January he makes his debut at Bgham’s Q Club alongside local legend Sabretooth, who’ll be launching his new album, and Dejavoo live. Then on the Sat he’s following in the footsteps of dance music greats Tiesto, Paul van Dyk and Infected, taking on one of the world’s top venues, the o2’s incredible Indigo. As well as playing a live set of upfront tracks from his forthcoming third album ‘Red Means Distortion’ — and of course all the classic tracks that have kept him in the DJ Magazine Top 50 for the third year running — he’ll be launching new digital EP ‘One Step Ahead’, a limited edition multi-media production available on USB stick only. He’ll also be bringing along HOMmega label mates X-noiZe, Krunch and Delirious, who’ll be joined by the Antiworld residents. With X-noiZe and Krunch launching their new albums ‘Wheel of Misfortune’ and ‘Booster’, this promises to be one of THE psy trance events of 2009. The credit crunch is hitting everyone hard and we know you want to party more than ever… so we’re keeping advance ticket prices as low as we can. As our New Year’s present to our loyal fans, all advance tickets are being kept to just £20 (London)/£12 (Bgham) and capacity restricted to 1200 (London)/600 (Bgham). But be warned — at the time of going to press almost half of the tickets for o2 were sold out already!!!
