Born in ballard, WA mooncalf is a four piece comprised of matt millone, matt gouldcrest, d.c. terry and patrick sullivan. Orginally a three piece, matt, matt and pat(t) focused on melancholy, countryfied, rock with an electronic backbeat. The group has evolved with the addition of drummer and long time friend d.c. terry. While more rock and organically oriented than their earlier incarnation the band still has heavy electronic/atmospheric nuances that pepper their sound.
Mooncalf has been fortunate enough to play shows at some of Seattles and Bellinghams finest music establishments such as the tractor, the crocodile café, the sunset, chop suey, the high dive, the factory, etc.
In November of 2005 the band released their 1st self titled album (tiger on the front, circuit on the back). Self recorded and produced in various bedrooms, basements and bathrooms throughout ballard the album is a snapshot of the band's development and technique.
