Tally Koren began her professional career as a model in Haifa, moving
to Tel Aviv where she won the title Miss Water Of Israel.
Tally writes:
I worked as a model in New York, Texas, and Mexico City. It was a
huge contrast, but fun, to return to serve 2 years in the Israeli
army. I ended up being the general's receptionist. I found out later
they had been looking for a 'pleasant voice' - at the time I'd no idea
I was going to become a singer! After the army, I got married and
lived in a large gold cage for a while, but it wasn't for me. I
escaped, became broke and depressed. Songs started to flow out of me
- and a new journey in life began.
When you are low, I think you can either drown, or look deeper. I
found that I wanted to look for a greater meaning in life, to
meditate, and perhaps become a healer for other people in the same
position.
I moved to London to progress as a singer and songwriter. My first
album Timeless Melodies takes some of the most beautiful music by the
great classical reinterpreted as songs. I wanted to spread these
magnificent works to today's wider audience, and show how great and
divine they are.
In My Dreams - one of the tracks on Timeless Melodies - is part of the
EMI compilation Crossover Superstar which features artistes including
Charlotte Church, Kiri Te Kanawa, Russell Watson, and Sarah Brightman.
My song The Beginning features in the soundtrack of The Man Who Sold
The World (2007).
