A native New Yorker, Tamala Baldwin is intuitively infectious with boundless energy! She was exposed to the wonderful world of performance when she was really young. At the age of 9 she watched the popular musical ‘Mama, I Want To Sing’ and fell in love with the story and the performance of the leading actress. She became a fan of the production and often sang the songs featured in it to the top of her lungs. Seeing a potential and great will from her little daughter, Tamala’s mom brought her to a singing teacher who quickly channeled her talent to useful traits. Tamala went on to study classical music at Julliard School of Music and attended the Professional Performing Arts School, which launched the beginning of her career.
Since then, Tamala has consistently cultivated her craft while getting ready for her big break. Tamala landed several commercials as a young teen including, JC Penny, Honey Combs and Beautiful Beads. She toured with the Harlem Kids Symphony in Japan and worked on other off-Broadway productions like Guys and Dolls, and Huckleberry Finn.
The Saturday Affair, written, directed and produced by Florence Mills, marked Tamala’s theatrical debut since she decided to “pause” her performance career in order to pursue an MBA degree in New Media/Online Marketing. While rehearsing for The Saturday Affair, she was cast for the role of "Billy Jean" in J.E. Franklin’s play Black Girl, which opened at the Paul Robeson Theater in Brooklyn. Since then she has been cast in other productions including: Twitter Theater, Bachelor: On Crack, In The Silence Of The Heart and First Lady of Song where she will play “Ella Fitzgerald”.
With dreams of performing in front of the camera as well as on stage, Tamala has been cast in three short independent films: The Beatdown produced and written by Langston Sessoms, Anything For You as Lynette and Invitations Interviews With Loneliness as Anna-Rae. Tamala is simply in awe of the magic the universe is bringing her way and is using every opportunity to grow as a singer/actress.
In addition to being an actress, and singer Tamala seldom performs her other passion as an online marketing guru for small to medium size businesses. She is driven by her belief in the universe and fully understands that anything worth having involves sacrifice, determination, discipline and persistence.
