FAVORITE QUOTES

"Music is the shorthand of emotion." - Leo Tolstoy
(this is engraved on my iPod)

"The greater the obstacle, the more glory in overcoming it." - David Hume, Scottish philosopher, historian.

"When you are in a state of nonacceptance, it's difficult to learn. A clenched fist cannot receive a gift, and a clenched psyche grasped tightly against the reality of what must not be accepted cannot easily receive a lesson." - John Roger

"Faith is an adventure; it is the courage of the soul to face the unknown. But that courage springs from the hope and confidence of the soul that its adventure will succeed." - Henry VanDyke

“He who has faith has... an inward reservoir of courage, hope, confidence, calmness, and assuring trust that all will come out well - even though to the world it may appear to come out most badly.” - B.C. Forbes

What Is Success? To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty; To find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived; This is to have succeeded. - Ralph Waldo Emerson

THE PEOPLE I AM MOST GRATEFUL FOR

My Mother - for lessons of courage, strength and faith. Maybe I am much more like her than I ever wanted to admit, but that's not a bad thing.

My Husband - For always letting me fly when I felt caged in, knowing I would always return. For being a wonderful father and faithful husband. For his tolerance and his love. Without him, I am nothing. He is the glue that holds our family together.

My Children - For making me laugh and strengthening my patience. For giving me the honor of being their mother and showing me the meaning of unconditional love.

Mo - For her voice of reason, her creativity, her endless humor, her compassion and for just being the very definition of "best friend".

Gerry Butler - For bringing me into a world that has tested my resolve and strengthened my patience and made me a better person as a result. For showing me the true face of faith, friendship and loyalty. For his talent and giving back to those who support him with genuine thanks, humility and a good heart.

About me:
The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, nor the kindly smile, nor the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when you discover that someone else believes in you and is willing to trust you with a friendship. - Ralph Waldo Emerson

So here is a little bit about me. I am a married, mother of two living in Northern Virginia, just outside of Washington, DC. I grew up in upstate New York and consider New York home, although I have lived here since 1989. A friend suggested I set up a MySpace to share a little bit about myself and show off some of the things I do in my work and free time. So, here I am.

I have been doing web design work for over seven years. I work for a local university part-time and do freelance work out of my home office. It's been a rewarding career that has allowed me to apply my creativity in ways I never could have imagined. It has also introduced me to industries and people I would not have known had it not been for the internet. I have learned so much about the businesses of entertainment, education, logistics, marketing, public relations, non-profits and more through my work on the internet. Even more important, I am truly grateful for the friendships that has made this career more rewarding than any other.

If you are interested in learning more about my work as a web designer, please feel free to visit my website: http://www.tamarahalstead.com

Happy Birthday, woman! Hope Mr. T. and the kiddies spoil you rotten.

And I hope you get a small, but luxurious time away from mod-ing...even if that's just a few hours to open presents and cut the cake.

Sorry we didn't make it for the Super Bowl festivities, but I understand a high five is in order (at least to you). I'm not much of a football fan so I watched the Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet :)
