EVERY YEAR IN MY HOME TOWN OF SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA THE HIGHLY PRESTIGIOUS ARCHIBALD PRIZE FOR PORTRAITURE IS HELD BY THE ART GALLERY OF NEW SOUTH WALES. THE WINNING ENTRY IS JUDGED BY THE TRUSTEES OF THE ART GALLERY OF NEW SOUTH WALES.
I MET WENDY BOOKATZ WHEN I WAS PERFORMING WITH MY BAND (JAZZCATZ). SHE MENTIONED TO ME THAT I WOULD BE A GOOD SUBJECT FOR THE 2009 ARCHIBALD PRIZE. I WAS REALLY FLATTERED THAT WENDY BOOKATZ AUSTRALIAN AWARD WINING ARTIST WOULD WANT TO PAINT ME. THE ARCHIBALD IS SOMETHING I SEE IN THE NEWSPAPER, NOT SOMETHING I WOULD EVER EXPECT TO BE PART OF. I HAVE SPENT A NUMBER OF HOURS SITTING FOR WENDY SO SHE CAN PERFECT HER PAINTING WHICH SHE HAS ALREADY SPENT COUNTLESS HOURS COMPLETING!

Just like any struggling artist in Australia, I go for every gig that I can squeeze into my schedule: I have a day job, I teach music, I go to the gym some nights of the week, I play the piano and conduct small childrens choir on weekends, do shows every now and then.
