If I could pick a supergroup it’s members would be…Stevie Wonder on drums(he is such an incredible drummer), James Jamerson on bass (responsible for so many great recordings in the early soul beginnings), Prince on the rhythm guitar, Jimi Hendrix on lead (oh yeah), some of the master djembefolas (west African drummers) of Guinea on percussion, Miles Davis on trumpet, John Coltrane on saxophone, and fronted by Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Gladys Knight, Otis Redding and James Brown.

EVERY YEAR IN MY HOME TOWN OF SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA THE HIGHLY PRESTIGIOUS ARCHIBALD PRIZE FOR PORTRAITURE IS HELD BY THE ART GALLERY OF NEW SOUTH WALES. THE WINNING ENTRY IS JUDGED BY THE TRUSTEES OF THE ART GALLERY OF NEW SOUTH WALES.
I MET WENDY BOOKATZ WHEN I WAS PERFORMING WITH MY BAND (JAZZCATZ). SHE MENTIONED TO ME THAT I WOULD BE A GOOD SUBJECT FOR THE 2009 ARCHIBALD PRIZE. I WAS REALLY FLATTERED THAT WENDY BOOKATZ AUSTRALIAN AWARD WINING ARTIST WOULD WANT TO PAINT ME. THE ARCHIBALD IS SOMETHING I SEE IN THE NEWSPAPER, NOT SOMETHING I WOULD EVER EXPECT TO BE PART OF. I HAVE SPENT A NUMBER OF HOURS SITTING FOR WENDY SO SHE CAN PERFECT HER PAINTING WHICH SHE HAS ALREADY SPENT COUNTLESS HOURS COMPLETING!

Just like any struggling artist in Australia, I go for every gig that I can squeeze into my schedule: I have a day job, I teach music, I go to the gym some nights of the week, I play the piano and conduct small childrens choir on weekends, do shows every now and then. One thing that's constant though is that when I come home at the end of the day, I do musical experiments on the computer. Sometimes I paint too. Or do something else as creative.
