    Western folklore, big hulking mythologies,ghost stories, ghost hunting, hoax hunting, photography, anomalies in general, eastern meds, reiki in particular, and cats. Exploring western ghost towns. Sleeping in haunted hotel rooms. (I always call dibs on the bed with the cold spot hovering over it since I tend to overheat easily.)

    Ragtime and early jazz. Scott Joplin, Scott Joplin, and a little more Scott Joplin. Classical, mostly Mozart and anything thunderously minor-keyed. Springsteen, Queen, Tom Lehrer. A little Dr. Hook, a few overwrought operas and John Williams scores to round things out.

    Idiocracy, Tombstone, Blazing Saddles, High Noon, Full Metal Jacket, Indiana Jones, Amadeus, Airplane!, The Shining, Ghost Story, Poltergeist.

    Dexter, Deadwood, South Park, Keith Olbermann, Stargate SG-1, ghost documentaries, and most other History or Discover programs, especially if they involve the old west or things blowing up.

    Lord of the Rings, The Stand (unexpurgated), Andersonville, Burr, The Terror, The Reckoning, Lamb, American Gods, The Shining, If You Could See Me Now, Fevre Dream. Narrative non-fiction, heavy on history, ala Erik Larson's Devil in the White City and Isaac's Storm. Various books on alleged hauntings, US history, deviant psychology, and conspiracies. You know, pretty much anything that doesn't involve numbers.

The smoke is ok here now, but my friends in Beverly Hills, 15 min. away, where I used to life, a little smokey!
