Silverchair drummer Ben Gilles has launched his first side project; Tambalane.
Gilles has teamed up with Sydney singer/songwriter Wesley Carr. Carr was doing the bars in Sydney playing folk songs and selling his indie EP at gigs. At the time they met, Ben had some time on his hands as Silverchair had gone into hiatus.
The pair started performing low-key gigs at Sydney's Annandale Hotel and brought in bass player Greg Royal and keyboardist Gerard Masters on board to round out the band.
Tambalane has since recorded their first self-titled EP at Sydney's Megaphon Studio with producer Phil McKellar. Phil produced the Silverchair record 'Tomorrow'.
