I love all kinds, but none of any one genre for too long at a time--mix it up!
Recently: Blackalicious, Black-Eyed Peas, a copious mix of Citizen Cope the Fisherking made for me, Donna the Buffalo, Franz Ferdinand, Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, Madeleine Peyroux (who sounds so dead-on Billie Holiday it's eery), Madonna’s "Confessions on a Dance Floor," Scissor Sisters, Joss Stone (one skinny white girl with soul), Rachel Yamagata (similar to Fiona Apple but better)
Women's music of all kinds: Bitch & Animal, Erikah Badu, Neko Case, Paula Cole, Ani diFranco, Nelly Furtado, P.J. Harvey, Lauren Hill, k.d. lang, Erin McKeowen, Jill Scott, Michelle Shocked, Patti Smith, and yes, even the likes of Christina Aguilera, P!NK, and TLC. Check out Ladyslipper Music for their .. catalog and streaming radio of women's music of every imaginable flavor!

Tambone's Movie Buff Quotient: 74%
Tambone is a total movie buff. Classics, blockbusters, indie favorites... she's seen most of them. Her friends know to come to her whenever they need a few good DVD rental suggestions. Are You a Movie Buff?
Again, I'm a lover of film of all genres. A list of all-time favorites coming soon...
Recently studying up on all things Robert Rodriguez because he's a self-taught auteur, innovative, and a cheapskate. John Sayles is another awe-inspiring auteur with poetic and political genius. Gotta love Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2 as well as nerdy documentaries, which I'm also interested in making. Speaking of nerds...
I just wish I had more time to devote to my own filmmaking, but I'm slowly managing to nourish this creative habit with more consistency. You can check out my YouTube channel (be my friend)...

With zero reception at the end of our own gravel road, we mostly rely on movies & TV series on DVD. "Six Feet Under" will be an all-time fave; true to life and death and then some (but I'm still pissed at Nate, and I'm not sure that I'll ever be able to forgive him...). "Alias" ... ah, who could not love watching Jennifer Garner (aka Sydney Bristow) kick ass after ass after ass. We still haven't seen the 2-hour movie finale of "Farscape." The fifth season of "L-Word" started, but alas, we have no Showtime connection to watch it (and it's not posted to YouTube yet). I still miss "Xena" and her gal-pal Gabriel. We just started the second season of "Battlestar Galactica"; yes, we're hooked (though it doesn't have as much comic relief as "Farscape"). And, who can ever get enough of the Simpsons?
I'm a life-long lover of books and started reading at a young age. For years, it seems I've mostly been reading non-fiction, and less for pleasure, because I read so much for work. In my old job, I mostly read about higher education, which was--well, educational--but not my passion. I'm currently reading the Harry Potter series (finally, and I have no idea why it's taken me so long). I still need to borrow Year Three. Other recent reads include _That Takes Ovaries_, _A Dirty Job_, _Thinner_, and I'm nearly done with _Everything's Eventual_. Of perennial importance and interest are the powerful, challenging, personal, political intellectual ruminations and heartfelt wrestling with age-old spiritual questions of one Ms. bell hooks. (And believe me, she do be the constant cultural critic beyond her books as resident Berea celebrity as well!) Though I'm somewhat estranged from fiction lately, I do love me some Stephen King, Barbara Kingsolver, Alice Walker, Rita Mae Brown, and Dan Brown.

Tambone is dependable, popular, and observant.
Deep and thoughtful, she is prone to moodiness.
In fact, her emotions tend to influence everything she does.
She's unique, creative, and expressive.
She doesn't mind waving her freak flag every once and a while.
And lucky for her, most people find her weird ways charming!
Who I'd like to meet: How about some relatively famous people (in feminist circles anyway) I've already met?! ...like bell hooks, Mary Daly, Winona LaDuke, Rosemary Radford Ruether, Vandana Shiva, Michelle Shocked (3 times and actually played hacky sack with her)!
Other notable/admirable folks whom I've been fortunate enough to be in their presence include: Wendell Berry, Noam Chomsky, Betty Friedan, Ashley Judd, Toni Morrison, Adrienne Rich, Starhawk, Gloria Steinham, and the Dalai Lama.
So-called celebs aside, I love to meet good ol' ornery people; and I mean ornery in the best sense of someone who is straightforward and irreverent without being self-righteous or judgemental and can both laugh at themselves and help me laugh at myself. A rare and highly unappreciated quality in our society!
And speaking of ornery, I would've like to have met George Carlin:
"My name is a footnote in American legal history, which I'm perversely kind of proud of."
yeah i saw you, but you went in before i ould holla, we were in a hurry anyway but yeah lets try to get something together, weneed ourladies night fosho lol
Arrrggghh! I missed your birthday. Hope it was a good one. Good luck with your Short Term class. I would like to have audited it, but who has the time?? You ought to come by some time and meet our kitten. Yes. We have a kitten. Lenore rescued her from getting beat up by one of the neighborhood toms and of course, I couldn't say "No." Softie. Her name is Chessie Shadow Rose and she's the cutest, most loving and sweet little calico you'll ever meet. And yes, my eyes are burning. Pass the Benadryl!
Oh Tambone--you beautiful thang, you! I love ya! I haven't visited my MYSPACE in .. . well, a YEAR, and you left me so many nuggets of goodness, crumbs of sweetness!! THANK YOU! Let's play! Oct 31, dance party at Jodie and Wongdu's . . . good stuff!! xoxoxo
Oh yes, I do love the Richardsons, all of them. What were you doing in Louisville? Not there for the idea festival were you? I was there for that and for work...thanks for the good words.
Hey Tambone! What's going on? How've you been. It's been a while we haven't spoke in so long. Wow am i like good or what!?? What's up girl! Just stopping through to show some love. Be Easy not sleazy. LR
Just remember it is easier to fix the clothes than it is to fix your lungs. =) I quit about 5 years ago . . . it does begin to get easier, so hang in there.
