Somewhere in your CD collection, wedged between a Chaka Khan and Billie Holiday project, hides the music industry’s best kept secret, who George Benson says “has a talent only a few are given.” Jazz guitarist Stanley Jordan concurs that “she is a vocalist of immense talent.” Tammi Brown has performed all over the world with industry heavy-hitters and has shared the studio with top-notch artists. Some of her work has garnered Grammy recognition, and yet she remains humble and grounded. She is a sultry songstress and musician whose voice is unmatched by most artists on your radio. A San Francisco Bay Area native, Tammi was raised in a Christian home and was exposed to gospel music at an early age. The daughter of musicians (her mother played organ and her father played electric guitar), she began playing organ and singing in the church at the age of four with no formal musical training—this greatly enhanced her ability to play music by ear. At home, she listened to a myriad of artists such as Aretha Franklin, Walter and Tramaine Hawkins, Chaka Khan, Ella Fitzgerald, and Dusty Springfield. The rich tone, versatility, and uniqueness of her voice is reminiscent of the voices of these legendary artists. Tammi began her professional career when she appeared as a backup vocalist for award-winning Blues singer Sista Monica on a tour of Europe, Canada, and the United States. Following the success of the Sista Monica tour, she was hand-picked by hip hop artist, M.C. Hammer as a vocalist for his Southeast Asian tour. In the meantime, Tammi was spotted by legendary jazz guitarist Stanley Jordan who invited her to sing on various projects. Noteworthy is her work on Mr. Jordan’s 2008 CD release, “State of Nature”. Tammi performed background vocals on the tune “Steppin’ Out”, which received a nomination for the 51st Grammy Awards. Another highlight in Tammi’s music career was the collaboration with Mr. Tom Schuman of Spyro Gyra. She co-produced, arranged and performed all vocals on the song “That’s How it Goes”, which is gaining a tremendous amount of ‘buzz’ among industry insiders. Tammi’s first and heavily-anticipated solo project is scheduled for a 2009 release. Tammi has worked for and/or performed with the following artists: Walt Disney Productions | Tony Lindsay/Carlos Santana | Stanley Jordan | Spangalang Band | Smith Dobson Jr. Dan Robbins, "Modesto", & Steve Z | Sista Monica | Prince Damon | Narada Michael Walden | Mighty Mike Schermer | MC Hammer | Lenny Kravitz | Keith Greeninger | Nancy Cassidy | Craig Rayburn | Jimmy Fisher | Jesse Hiatt Band | Heekin | Francisco Diaz | Eric Clapton | Emerald City | Productions – Nashville, TN | Dayan Kai | Dave Tucker | Dale Okerman (Doobie Brothers) | Chad Hugo | Carl Wheeler (Tony! Toni! Tone! | Arne Fragar and The Plant Studios| Bible Way CC Recording Project | Common Unity | Stephanie Haney | Tommy Brown | Walter Hawkins

Instead of vowing to honor and obey each other, we should swear to aid and abet each other.

Human physiology does not direct all of its own functions; it is interdependent. It must be steadied by the physical presence of another. This is necessary for both physical and emotional health. In many ways, humans cannot be stable on their own—they require another to survive.

If a man does not make new acquaintances as he advances through life, he will soon find himself alone. A man should keep his friendships in constant repair.

But whether it be dream or truth, to do well is what matters. If it be truth, for truth's sake. If not, then to gain friends for the time when we awaken.
    --Pedro Calderon de la Barca
