Background

The Tampa Bay Pipes & Drums officially formed on March 18th, 1999, right after a particularly eventful St. Patrick's Day. There were only a few members at that time, but their outstanding charisma and personal hygiene quickly attracted new members. It wasn't long before the tartan was selected and the kilts ordered, and the band was off the ground running. The band currently has over 30 performing members and several piping and drumming students. Please contact the band if you are interested in joining.

*

Uniform

The band wears the Weathered MacNaughton tartan. The rest of the uniform consists of white shirt with black tie, black vest, plain black glengarry, black leather sporran, white hose, black flashes, and ghillie brogues.

*

Competition

The band is a member of the Southern United States Pipe Band Association (SUSPBA) and fields a grade 5 and a grade 4A competition band. Check out the Calendar to see where we will be competing.

*

Performances

The band has performed throughout the Southeastern United States. In addition to participating at the Scottish Highland games around the Southeast, they also perform yearly at the Florida State Fair, The Gasparilla Night parade in Tampa Florida, and the Tampa St. Patrick's Day Parade. The band serves the Hillsborough County, City of Tampa, and City of Largo Police Departments for ceremonies and memorial services. If you are interested in hiring the band or individuals from the band to perform at an event go to the Contact Us link.

Practice

The band has regular practices year round. Because we have members all over the Bay area we vary our practice location to make the commute to practice easier. Regular practices are held on Wednesday nights in Tampa and include all performing members and students. We also have several weekend competition band practices in Zephyr Park in Zephyrhills. Extra practices are held in Zephyrhills on Mondays and Spring Hill on Fridays where attention is given to students.
