Sounds Like
Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Mouse on Mars, Plug.... 8-bit video games....
If you take the music from an old 8-bit game, throw some drum n' bass behind that, add meticulously sequenced synthy polytones, cut it up and make it all crazy.... thats kind of what it sounds like to me :) - What I tell people is that it "sounds like break beats and video game music all mixed together..."
tangentbot, i.e. mathias purtlebaugh from seattle, washington, has been cut-pasting, mangling, sampling, sequencing and squeezing every little bloop, beep, boop and bleep into an eclectic blend of drum & bass meets video game music meets industrial meets idm since 1999. catchy and quirky tweaking turns get-up-and-dance into sit-down-and-listen. You won't find your club anthems here, nor your saab commercial poptronica, but you may hear something you like. in all honesty, i write incredibly self-indulgent video-game inspired drum n' bass... sometimes just straight video game music.
composed almost entirely on old DOS-based trackers, sequencers and a plethora of hardware and software, multi-instrumentalist tangentbot sticks to using mostly samples he has created for himself, or tweaked into submission those that he just couldn't pass up. I've recently been working with Ableton almost exclusively, but all the old stuff is done in Fasttracker and Skaletracker with some help from Cool Edit Pro (Adobe Audition).
currently residing in seattle, tangentbot is always looking for other musicians to collaborate with...

Check it out! I wrote a free book on music production! It's for total beginners, but if you aren't new to music production, maybe you'll still learn something... at least you can send it to your friends who always want to ask you a billion questions about music production! It's totally free too; my goal with this is to accumulate as many BFF's as possible.
