Tangent are a one of kind band hailing from Auckland city in Aotearoa.
There is no easy way to explain the music they play, hence the name. They are always going off on one. They prefer to be known as a band that plays cool music that you can dance to.
Never ones to shy away from stating their mind, Tangent's message is to spread unity and peace in the world. Throw out all the bullshit, meaningless hatreds and prejudices and try and get along and have fun. They live this as a multicultural band with members from Maori, Croat, Serb, Irish, Scottish and English blood. Altogether as Kiwis. Kia Kaha! Also the deep lyrics of Kelly Kahukiwa help convey that message with songs about corrupt politicians, love, peace and lost promise to name a few.
All the members have a huge experience, playing in other bands such as: Batucada Sound Machine, One Million Dollars, dDub, the WBC, The Rodger Fox Big Band, Flying Squad, Santiago, Roofdog, The Brassouls, the Shades, House of Shem, Ardijah, Don McGlashan, AK Samba and Band Latina.
Having formed 4 years ago with the core group of Nick, Vuk and Alex, the whanau has increased in size and popularity. They've played to large audiences at Rakinos, The Leigh Sawmill Cafe, 4:20 / Rising Sun and The Khuja Lounge. They are an integral part of Thank Funk Its Friday. Tangent has played in support of One Million Dollars, Batucada Sound Machine and Odessa.
This summer Tangent has taken it to the great outdoors - at The Tairua Pohutukawa Festival, Auckland City's Music In Parks, Groove in the Park and Shore Sounds.
Their debut EP is in production right now. Keep you eyes and ears peeled for these guys, no doubt you will get addicted to the funky flava of the Tangent.
Peace

Let us Introduce to you, the Music and give you some Info over our upcoming album Ugochill - Theory of Relaxivity. It took three years to complete this Album, mostly here in our Ugochill Studio, here in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Ambition was to patiently and in steps record and produce variety of Songs which are very much representing, musically and emotionally all these various people from various places and backgrounds involved in making of the Album. Music has been made freely without any pressure, and without having to deal with stress of having to make it, we gave the Songs and Project enough time to naturally grow into one strong Album that we are all proud off.
luna spark is going to try something different this time around - the new album, still panic will be released one track per month over the course of 2008. Why? Cause I haven’t recorded it all, and think nowadays people are perhaps better prepared to download a single song every now and then than ingest a whole album off the bat. Maybe. That, and still panic is a re-recording of an old luna spark album, panic, which I reckon deserves better recording than it got at the time. I tried doing a remaster of it, but nothing could hide the fact it was recorded rather primitively. I’ve re-done a few songs so far, and the results have been encouraging, so I decided it’s worth pursuing, so yeah!
So… to that end, here’s the very first of the songs - SPIN, CRASH & BURN (right-click save-as). Enjoy! Or don’t.
