i love listening to music, making music, sharing music, going to shows, dancing on tables, singing in choirs, and singing in the car. i'm very much interested in nursing, health care, medicine, the history of medicine, and how the mind works. i enjoy playing cards, playing pinball, surfing the net, riding trains, going fishing, reading books, reading graffiti, being a girl, and wearing hats. i am very concerned about the environment, turmoil in the middle east, the spread of infectious diseases, and planning the snacks. i love going to parties and dive bars. i will kick your ass at scrabble. i really like walking around town, and walking in the woods even more so. i love puppies. and playing songs on the jukebox. and hearing new jokes. i love all things Pittsburgh, especially Primanti's, Zambelli's, and Jeff Goldblum. additionally, i spend a great deal of my time making an ass out of my dorky self, procrastinating, and flying by the seat of my pants.
Music
A little bit of everything. Some live acts I've seen include The Roots, Black Keys, Rush, Harry Connick Jr, 311, Steve Miller, Chicago, TMBG, Soul Coughing, Fiona Apple, Dan Bern, Martin Sexton, Tristan Prettyman, Roger Waters, The Eagles of Death Metal, Black 47, Modest Mouse, The Pixies, Les Claypool, The Modey Lemon, WEEN, Keller Williams, Paul Simon, Jimmy Cliff, Jimmy Sturr, and The Preservation Hall Jazz Band. Music I love best is music that makes me feel good (something fun, with a groove, especially stuff I can dance to). MMW, James Brown, The Meters, Louis Prima are a few of my faves. I LOVE Doo-Wop oldies and RnB Soul (Wilson Pickett, Sam&Dave, Aretha Franklin, etc.) Pretty much anything funky, jazzy, or bluesy is OK by me, including hip-hop. I dig 80s dance music, rocksteady, and classic rock, too. Also into stuff like The Flaming Lips, The Eels, Zero7, Lilly Allen, Shuggie Otis, Nick Drake, The Avett Brothers, Amy Winehouse, Jim White and more. Ella Fitzgerald is probably my favorite singer. The most beautiful song I've ever heard is How Lovely Is Thy Dwelling Place by Johannes Brahms, or maybe Franz Biebel's Ave Maria. I could not live without G-Love, Beck, or The Doors. I support the local music scene.

Angie is in your extended realm of awareness. Posted at 7:08 PM Sep 13, 2008 view more
Are you coming back soon to visit? I would love to catch up in person or even talk to you. If your not coming soon, message me your phone number and I'll def. call. I can't wait to catch up. Miss you Angie!!
I didn't know you guys were going to a ball! Neat! Did they have fancy sandwiches on trays? My favorite events are the ones where people walk around the room with trays of food and you can just grab it. Whoever came up with that idea was a genius.
How's DC? How long are you there? While you've been away we've had a trench dug in our basement and every single thing I own is now coated with dust. It's hell.
I must have missed the part of Obama's speech where he pulled out the terrible towel. Maybe Jack Lambert will be his surprise pick for Secretary of Defense. Afc championship here we go!!!
Oh my god, are you seriously telling me that you are not familiar with MXC? It's the best thing on television and I am not even kidding. Actually I'm not sure if anyone is currently airing it. Just go to youtube and type in MXC; there are tons of clips. If you were to say to me, "hey Amber, what do think is the funniest thing anyone's ever put on television," I wouldn't even think twice before I said "MXC. "
Damn straight. The Black & Gold are gettin' it done. Now we just have to put Baltimore in it's place again. There's some that are making a big deal about beating them 3 times... but I'm gonna do like Mike Tomlin and not subscribe to that "hocus-pocus".
It's ok. I figured something happened. I kind of enjoyed my time off. Now the poop has hit the fan in school world so I'll emerge in about 8 weeks covered in something stinky but maybe a bit smarter.
I'm still sick. It sucks. I'm not leaving my couch for a while. Well, I have important shit to do at the office Wednesday, so that's my deadline for getting over this cold.
