| About TANGO Music & Hip-Hop Activism Page |
Allow me to first thank you for coming to my page, You could be anywhere on myspace but your here with me.... I thank you for that.
Before anyone knew my name or face, before I was on reality TV I was very much involved in Hip-hop music as an artist, writer and record label owner.
I love Hip-Hop and enjoyed what it did for me growing up. As time went on I noticed Hip-Hop’s content and artist changed, and in my opinion, so did its value. After seeing what my beloved Hip-Hop had become I could no longer sit by and watch as it decayed and fell apart before my eyes. I have always been one to stand up and take action, so instead of participating in its decline I made a choice to do all I could to make it better. I’d gone from artist to activist. This was not a hard transition for me. I’d spent a large part of my life listening and creating this music; I see no reason why I could not put that same effort and energy in saving it.
I am asked constantly “What about my music”? I’m quick to say, “My music has always been a personal thing to me, thus that is how it will remain…Personal”. In other words, I will continue to make music at my leisure and I will make it available to the public at my discretion. To put it in simpler terms, “I don’t make music for you, I make music for me. If you like what you hear than I see it as a bonus. Many of you write, produce and perform Hip-Hop for fame, money or to get a record deal. I could careless about these things. I create this music for the love of the art.
To me, this is something we have lost as a “Hip-Hop Community” ….The love for the art.
Hip-Hop is a Culture; Rap is part of that culture. I made a choice to protect and preserve my culture. “You Do Hip-Hop… I Am Hip-Hop”
