Every Tuesday I'll post a new tanka (aka waka) in a new blog. Anyone who cares to join in, please post yours in the comments to that blog, any time up until the next blog post on the next Tuesday.
Also you can post in the profile comments, your own or any other tanka you'd like to share. (As this is a poetry site, please don't post pre-fabricated greeting card verses; thank you.)
I am not an expert! Quite the contrary, I'm hopeful of learning by doing. I created this profile because I've conceived a passion for tanka and wanted a place to practise, hopefully in good company. If you would like to know more about tanka, I am not the person to ask; please Google it.
This site which I came across seems to be comprehensive and you may find it helpful, as I did - but as a beginner myself, I'm in no position to evaluate the information.
Who I'd like to meet:
Companions in tanka appreciation - both readers and writers. You are welcome if you are a tanka master, a novice, or anything in between ... or simply one who enjoys reading them. Readers are welcome to make encouraging comments!
I understand you have just had a birthday. Cranes are the Chinese symbol for longevity. Unfortunately I don't have any Cranes but here's an Egret I photographed a week or so ago!
Thank you for the add. I'll have to brush up on my Tanka.
