Tanner Walle's career as a performer has stretched nearly ten years.
At the age of 14, Tanner had moved to Phoenix, AZ from his home state of Kansas. Immediately upon arriving, Tanner was singing in theater as well as writing and performing original music on stages throughout Phoenix and central Arizona. By 2001, he and his band Oddbox had landed both Wednesday and Thursday night residencies at two separate night clubs on ASU's campus.
Tanner returned to Kansas in 2002 to attend the University of Kansas in Lawrence. Shortly thereafter, with his new band and entirely new collection of material, Tanner was supporting acts such as the Samples, Graham Colton, Ari Hest and Pat McGee. In 2004, Tanner and his band of veteran Kansas City and Lawrence musicians headed into the studio, where they recorded their first full-length entitled "It Was." With a profound pocket of musicianship and crystal-clear production quality, the Chicago Tribuned noted Tanner's songwriting as "made-for-radio lyrical sentiments."
Soon thereafter, Tanner was touring the Midwest and Northeast, while maintaining a home base in Lawrence, playing with Kelly Clarkson, Everclear, Bob Schneider, Teitur, as well as numerous shows with friends Matt Wertz and Dave Barnes. Combined with strong iTunes sales in the U.S., Europe and Australia, Tanner's reputation as a profound songwriter was alas being solidified.
Tanner's sophomore album, entitled "The Future of Tape," turns in an entirely new direction for Tanner's musical styles. Produced by Jerett Fulton, and recorded entirely at Lawrence's premiere recording studio Mixtape SoundLab, "Future" is described as a fusion of electronic-acoustic pop, traveling broad sonic landscapes while containing expressive, sticky hooks with lyrics rich in imagery. As the Pitch described, "the impassioned vocal inflections of Sting and the jazzy chord changes of Steely Dan, Walle creates polished tunes with mainstream appeal and pro-grade musicianship."
Look for Tanner's third, entirely acoustic EP to be released exclusively on iTunes by Fall 2008!!
