I'm Tanya Chua. T for short. Not much of a tea drinker..coffee rocks, illy especially. So yes, I'm a singer songwriter. Straddling between being a Chinese pop singer and an English folk rock singer...it's weird I know..but my life has always been that way.
Not very good at self-introductions. I think and speak too randomly, sometimes totally missing the point that I initially wanna make as such is the case now.
I love music as much as I love broccoli and Ashtanga yoga. I love my Martin too and oranges, though too many oranges make my skin a tad too yellow for my liking..but what the heck...I'm Chinese lol
I was born and bred in Singapore and started writing songs when I decided to pick up the guitar to prove to a musician who once yelled at me for not knowing anything about music. But thank goodness for that as I was pretty clueless during my formative years. I thought I would end up as a road sweeper wearing those luminous orange vests...I love orange by the way. So yadada...here i am today.
Having spoken English all my life, by a stroke of luck, I became a Chinese pop singer..singing mandarin ballads mostly. I still think and speak in English but wanting to feel more authentic to the language that I'm singing in, I moved to Taipei about a year ago. Still struggling to make sense of all those chinese characters everywhere, but I think I'm getting the hang of it.
So yeah. Welcome to T's myspace. You'll find a mixture of Chinese and English ditties written by myself. Don't be confused as I am. A new Chinese album is in it's making and so is an English one.
May the universe be filled with peace and joy. OM shanti
Love

Our beloved Ms. T has done us all proud again by bagging the Best Local Lyric, Best Local Musician of the Year and Asian Media Recommended Female Artiste of the Year at the recent 15th Annual Singapore Hit Awards.
Feeling very proud of her, especially over her win as the Best Local Lyric! It isn't easy starting out in a language which isn't your first, but Ms. T did it and even overcame the language barrier to start writing her own songs... and now, winning her second best lyric awards in her music career.
No one else deserves the awards more than her, coz we know how much effort she had put in to become who she is today and how she has now became the idol of many new asian female singer songwriters. Thank you Tanya for making your music and inspiring everyone of us.
Hi Tanya, thanks for the add!! I'm sooo happy~~ I love your music!! You know sometimes when I feel down, I'd listen to your music. The songs give relief to my heart.
Am listening to your new songs now. Like the arrangement, as they really jump out at listeners. Think that's something new, more upbeat and positive in a way. very refreshingly new and somewhat different from the usuals we hear in the market these days.. Am somehow amused that when I saw the titles, my mind starts ticking and linked them up to this within minutes lol~ Dun think they make sense but somehow they do...?
You look brilliantly beautiful and bright during the GMA! It's classy simple, but outstanding! No wonder the desigers who are ranking the best dressed artistes of the event placed you as the Third most well-dressed artiste of the event.
Hi, Tanya! I really love "Blank Spaces" and "darwin". I think are wonderful songs and the arrengements are beautiful. I hope my music sounds like these any day :-) Take care!
