"Toronto singer/songwriter Tanya Philipovich grabs your ear with the first line of the first song on 'Secret Fiction Romance', and she holds on to it tenaciously until the last line of the last of nine songs on her new album Secret Fiction Romance." - Robert Reid - The Record ....Toronto-based singer/songwriter Tanya Philipovich has been described as "Freak Folk". Her songs are poetically driven, melodically interesting and generally performed with one voice and one guitar to exhibit the song and nothing more. Tanya has recently released her second album titled 'Secret Fiction Romance' (2009), on Toronto indie label, 'Doin' Time Records'. It was recorded and produced by guitar man Dan Walsh ( Fred Eaglesmith, Willie P. Bennett, Corb Lund) at his Cozy Little Shack On Lake Erie Studio. Getting her start in Vancouver, she began singing her songs in cafes, clubs and outdoor stages at the age of fourteen. She began three rock bands, including mild success with college radio darlings, 'Sneeker'. Her debut solo album, 'Keep On It' (2006), has been enjoyed by loyal fans in Toronto, Montreal, New York and Vancouver. It was recorded with double bassist Drew Birston (Chantal Kreviazuk, Wild Strawberries) and produced by Brent Bodrug and B Group Music. Tanya looks forward to taking 'Secret Fiction Romance' on the road, and a cross-Canada tour is in the works for 2011. ...... .. .... .............. .. .. .. .. .. .... -
