Taoist Jihad aims to bring balance in an unbalanced world by all means practical. The Taoist Jihad’s propaganda wing issues musical statements: cut ups of Bollywood, Hollywood, dub and mixes of music from around the world. The aim is to restore the balance the musical influences that you are listening to. This is a spiritual dance revolution with poetic terrorist intentions. Taoist Jihad was founded in 1997 by DJ Acid Fatwah, Various performances, black magic, video, tapes and CDs of cut-up recordings mixing the music of east and west followed.
Taoist Jihad produced music in a number of ways from DJ Acid Phatwah,recording with drum machine live straight from mix desk to tape, to cut-up samples on Soundforge by the Cynical Brothers, Clem & Jole. Taoist Jihad’s rapper, MC el Qid, refused to take part in this project due to the recent anti-terrorist and anti-sedition laws. Who can blame him given the recent jailing of ‘the lyrical terrorist’ in England.
In June 2008 Taoist Jihad had an exhibition of art work by members of the band and associated with the launch of their CD 'Taoist Jihad vs Freedonia' at Brunswick Arts, an artist-run initiative.
