Tape Findings is an archive of one of a kind cassette recordings and other odd sounds that I have discovered throughout my years searching thrift stores and garage sales. I hope you find them as fascinating as I do. Please visit http://www.sweetthunder.org/tapes to listen to over 100 different tapes. A new tape posted each week.
I love what you do. As a younger man I used to pick up random tapes from various sources (garage sales, pawn shops, thrift stores, and even the garbage and listen to them. Mostly they sucked, but every now and then there would be something great. When Jacob Smigel first introduced me to the concept of found sounds with his collection it clicked with me instantly. There is so much to be discovered. Keep digging!
i honestly find myself thinking about your project quite often...

Heyy there! We're about to put out a CD. Since were doing something similar to you, I was wondering if you knew anything about the legalities of 'found sound'? We've been getting rid of last names and phone numbers, but other than that do you know if anything thrown away or donated to a thrift store is considered public domain?
Lovely! Quite Lovely! I'm so glad that you are doing what you're doing. May I set some of the things you've collected to music? (My "thing" is figuring out the notes and rhythms of spoken word stuff and having a band play along with it). You are the ONE I was hoping to meet. I have a lot of tapes from garage sales, but no time to catalouge them or to see if there is anything useful on them. Amazing stuff!, David Minnick/Crabid Music/The Sursiks
