Tara Elliott and The Red Velvets is a Garage/Punk Blues power trio whose sound can be described as equal parts retro and contemporary, with legendary influences ranging from Big Brother and the Holding Company, John Lennon, Muddy Waters, Iggy Pop and the Stooges, The Velvet Underground to The White Stripes. A common thread in this sound is the passion of the blues and the desire to rock.
After years of singing delta blues n' paying her dues, Tara discovered her truth: her lust for punk rock. The moment she first listened to Iggy Pop and the Stooges' classic “I Wanna Be Your Dog”, Tara became intrigued and craved a complete musical transformation. Tara's songwriting took a 180 degree spin, igniting the blues, punk and classic rock into her own explosive expression.
As a singer, songwriter and guitarist, Tara found an accompaniment to share her vision, The Red Velvets, consisting of: Mr. Jeffery Phillips aka Zee Mighty Jeffers on lead bass (wearing titanium prosthetic legs, owner of Dome Rehearsal Studio) and Mr. Werner Wilding on drums (a straight-off-the-boat Austrian, perfectionist, actor and philosopher).
